why are AT'ers always such paranoia freaks? They can't overcharge you, and this conspiracy thing really, PhilC, that is just too far!

Heh, this is a silly one. These people are gonna come in Monday morning and find 500 orders for this card. At $139, it is no doubt hundreds of dollars less than the cost they paid to buy it.

So if they actually sold these cards, they would lose $100,000 or something. A big company like Walmart might theoretically be willing to eat the $100,000 loss just to avoid bad publicity. Some little online store certainly will not.

[added later. I just found out the deal has now appeared on Pricewatch. So they won't be getting 500 orders, they'll be getting 5000. If you believe some little online store is willing to lose a million dollars on this deal, feel free to put your order in ]

If you had read this thread, you would have found out I posted the info about Pricewatch over 8 hours ago!

I would love to see their faces when those guys come in to work Monday morning and find out they have over 1000 orders for this card!

Well they're not supposed to, however that doesn't mean they won't. Read some of the reviews on resellerratings. They have done it to other people in the past. IMO this isn't worth the effort. If you place an order, the best you can hope for is to get your money back. There is no way they are shipping these out at this price. At worst, they'll charge your card another $400.

That's why you pay with American Express. AmerExp always takes the customer's side on a chargeback. If they ship out my vid card and charge me ~$550, I'll dispute it and have the cards and the money. Then it will be the reseller's responsibility to ship me a box with postage paid to get the cards back.

I am hoping that if this does not go through (which it probably wont) that they might give out a 10% off coupon or something like that as I plan to get a 6800GT anyway. Guess I will have to wait and see....

FYI, Maximum PC did a review of the Asus card and it turns out it only has 12 pipelines so it's just like a plain jane 6800. They were disappointed in Asus for lableling the card the way they did.

Even if its true, considering most 9800 Pros are still way more than $139, something is wrong with this price. At such a price I'd expect this to be a 5200 Ultra, 5600 Ultra at best, let alone a 6800 Anything

I find it kind of funny that you seem to be warning people that they're going to be ripped off if they actually get a 6800 card for $139

It's not gonna come but it sure is fun to be apart of whats going to make some dude crap his pants in about 9 hours lmao. Need I remind anyone that no cards have been charged yet and they wont until they ship. A 10 percent coupon would be smart because there is no way they would get that kind of buisness anyhow.

What they did was a review of the V9999 Gamer Edition, here:

Is that the same card as the one in question?

The site clearly says "Ultra" on it, while the gamer edition card is not an Ultra. Could be a messup...

There's gonna be alot of unhappy customers tomorrow btw ^^

Customers who wouldn't have shopped there had it not been for this "mistake." I doubt the vendor would hesitate to cancel the orders.

I just remembered the article about asus v9999, didn't realize there were different additions. I don't have the magazine any longer as it was last months.

I don't think there is a chance of getting the card.

But if the people who took the 40 seconds to put in an order for one get lucky, won't everyone else been kicking themselves?

Bump so that more people can waste their CC companies time!

If by some miracle this goes through, great. But do you honestly thing the company even has the money to follow through on your orders? They don't.
