Hi,

I have the VP28UQG monitor 4K 60hz is it appropriate for the ROG-STRIX-GTX1080TI-O11G-GAMING ? The monitor does not have G-SYNC but has free-SYNC and adaptive-SYNC..?

What would you ultimately recommend? I only game mostly FPS games

Also is G-SYNC really important? is it a game changer? do I really need to care about it?

My monitor is new, I have about a week to return it if I should go get something else

Thanks

What cpu is involved ? Search google using the three items as search terms-cpu, video card and 4 K resolution- looking for fps information in the games you play. If average frame rates are well above 60 then v and adaptive sync will help. If the expected rate is less than 60, the Gsync would help. Since you will not have Gsync, you can always down resolution or run the games at lower graphic detail.Let us know how she goes.

For FPS I would recommend faster refresh over 60hz... but if you want to stick with 4K then I would most definitely get adaptive sync that matches my video card. FreeSync will not work with 1080TI.

You'll probably be fine for a while as the 1080TI can push 60fps at 4K with turning some settings down on modern games, but sooner or later you'll benefit from GSync if you keep buying newer titles.

I personally think there are always at least a few things that need to get turned down for "perfect" performance in a modern game, and the sacrifices are typically small ... especially with something like a TI... but yeah 2018 releases will likely demand a few more notches down...and then 2019 a few more... etc.

I'd recommend a 120hz+ 2k monitor for now, or maybe even a solid ultrawide (a few do 100hz or more) for specifically FPS, the problem with the 2k route is that the 1080ti is major overkill... the ultrawide is likely the better balance of the options.

I just reserved the Pg279q... would you suggest the pg348q over that?
