Asus W1N or Acer 2025WLMi

While looking for more laptop options, I came across these two. How is the reputation of the respective companies? (build quality, customer service, etc...) And which would be better for a student (Office Suite, Autocad) that likes to play the random game?

the acer has a better graphics card, and acer has been making "computers" far longer then asus, while asus has a better reputation in terms of parts but in the us at least is relatively new to the whole pc market.

The acer would be much better for games, but probably a lot pricier.

I've had good luck with Acer. They are the biggest laptop vendor in Europe, and growing fast here. They have some really good price drops when they discontinue products.

Well, the Asus is about $3200 CDN and the Acer is about $3300, so they are pretty similar in that aspect.

Does anyone think that the higher resolution on the Asus would be helpful at all? or is that kind of resolution overkill for the monitor size? I currently use a 19" at 1280x1024, 1600x1200 is a bit small for me, but I did get use to it when I had it.

I actualy like the higher resolution, and it may be usefull for autocad, but the graphics card is a bit of a downgrade so i guess you will have descide whether your want a better screen or better graphics.

Well, I check with my school and they're only offering a couple lower IBM models, and for MORE than if I got it straight from IBM. (Cheap school...)

So, anyways, if there are any more thoughts or comments about these two computers, i'd really appreciate it. Thanks.
