Glad to see the deal is rolling again... Thanks for posting the news Engineer... I got in on the first go round and flashed it with DD-WRT as soon as it arrived. It has been 100% rock solid ever since. Great deal on a fine router.

How does this compare to the WRT54G v1-v4 or WRT54GL? I know those models, as well as this Asus, support 3rd party firmware but the Linksys has 2 antennae and I like the fact that I can swap those out for better ones to increase range (in addition to increasing it through the firmware).

Distribution from California (city unknown), Edison, NJ and Memphis, TN (IIRC). If it's shipped from NJ, then a good possibility. If not.....

In most cases Newegg will get products shipped to MA in two days, so I bet you get it Wednesday.

I figured "why not", for $18.89 shipped if it isn't any better than my Netgear router at least it has print server functionality! Do you guys think I can use my old router for an access point to extend my network range? I have a few areas in my home at are black holes for wireless.

This is an excellent router and it compares favorably to the Linksys wrt54GL. I have both and although the Asus 520GU looks small it is very versatile, i.e. can be used as an AP, client bridge (with DD-WRT software) and of course as a router with print server capability.

I did not receive the Asus rebate yet, although filed about 2 months ago.

I scored this deal when it last happened, a few weeks ago (see my previous post in this thread). I haven't had time to set it up or flash the firmware, but all reviews say this one rocks with DDT_WRT or Tomato firmware.

This time, I used my mod controls to edit the OP's title to show the better price.

O/S again.

BTW, what I said a while back, still applies today... "I got in on the first go round and flashed it with DD-WRT as soon as it arrived. It has been 100% rock solid ever since. Great deal on a fine router.."

You can flash it with DD-WRT with USB support and then it takes another manual update to make print server actually work. I'm using the router as wireless client/USB printserver but it looses connection to my main wireless router all the time and requires restart before actually printing anything.... I need to look into the options for something like "keep connection alive" or try other antenna... Other wireless clients in the same room do not have connection problems

Are there any actual Asus firmware updates that may improve the router performance but retain print serve functionality without hassle?

I am using an old NetGear print server and have not had the need to to get the
USB capability going. I did flash to a firmware version that is specific to the USB capability, but have yet to play with it. When I was researching on the DD-WRT forums, people were saying there had been driver issues with the USB capability, but I have not been back in a while now.

Any verdict on this?

I haven't touch my 360 in nearly four months because it's no longer near a router. Been searching for a cheap wireless bridge this past couple of weeks.

I tried the wireless bridge mode (not WDS), and it works perfectly. The signal hasn't dropped even once. The only thing that was confusing was that the wireless bridge mode does not have a "scan for AP" button. You have to type in your primary router's SSID. I am not sure what would happen if two AP have the same SSID, although they should have different MAC addresses. That's why I would prefer to have a "scan for AP" button so that we can select and associate with it automatically. Nevertheless, it works fine just by typing in the SSID of your router.

This was tested with a laptop and the older XBox.

I used this:
