I recently bought an ASUS Xonar DG & Sennheiser HD 558. I have my Logitech X-540 5.1 speakers connected straight into the Xonar DG, and I have my HD 558 connected to the front panel of my comp case. my question is, would it be better (in terms of sound quality) to connect my HD 558 to the front panel or to connect it to the extra 3.5mm input that my X-540 has? How much of a difference does it make? any alternative options?
Also, are the Xonar DG official or unified drivers better?
I was also wondering if there was a way to separate my front panel and my back panel inputs so that i could use both simultaneously. (example: i like to set my X-540 to default, and Skype to my headphones.) (another example here: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/59341-6-solved-split-rear-panel-audio-jacks-separate-audio-streams) I was able to do this on my onboard sound (Realtek). But i'm not sure if the Xonar DG allows this.
