Word comes via email and an 8-K filing from AMD this afternoon that AMD’s executive lineup is undergoing a significant shakeup today. All told, 3 AMD executives are leaving the company today: GM of Computing and Graphics Business Group, John Byrne; Chief Marketing Officer, Colette LaForce; and Chief Strategy Officer, Raj Naik. This comes on the heels of an already busy 2014 for AMD’s executive ranks, which saw a business unit reorganization and the promotion of Dr. Lisa Su to COO and then CEO.

Earnings report will be somewhat of a view into how hard it will be for the company in 2015... IMO Management shakeups are not always a BAD thing...

More likely Lisa Su is using the poor Q4 earnings and Q1 guidance as an excuse to clean house. Byrnes was fired after he finished firing. We all knew AMD's marketing was weak so a CMO change was due. Chief strategy officer is a dead weight position. So these are good changes.

It is kind of a chicken vs egg thing. Yes, their marketing kind of sucks, but it is hard to design a good marketing campaign when you have a mediocre product. (talking about CPUs, their gpus are quite competitive, although they need a new product to compete with the efficiency of Maxwell)

The problem is they have virtually no marketing at all. AMD has no brand name presence whatsoever. They have about as much presence as some no-name Chinese brand as far as most of the world is concerned.

bad management doesn't mean bad products; their CPUs are atrocious, but Maxwell straight up sucks in my opinion, so i hope AMD doesn't have much of a tough time. at least the latest version of GCN is nice as is support for Adaptive sync.

A bigger problem is that nvidia's marketing isn't humorous or all that good-looking like Sega's was back in the day. 3dfx's ads were more entertaining than those from nvidia.

Seems like it. Usually see a new CEO make major changes with the management team, AMD wouldn't be the first company to go through it. Looks bad though when you have too much executive shuffle too quickly.

Course, HTC's still in business after having major leadership shuffles in the past couple years.
