Yeah, I read it too, and then went back and it was gone. Very cool board though. I hope they make a "Premium" AM2 board with the 8-phase power supply. I would definitely have to pick one up then.

I currently own a VIA K8T890 board, and was going to go for the K8T900 until I read up on the ATI RD580. Comparing the new ATI chipset to the new VIA is like comparing a Ferrari to a Yugo. Goodbye VIA.

To those who had the chance to read it, what are its main feature?

From Asus's specification, it is still one step behind the Asus A8N32-SLi Deluxe, and perhaps even one step behind the A8N-SLi Premium in terms of features.

Basically, is it worth considering over the 32-Sli Deluxe for those who do not need SLi or Crossfire?

Unless you must have the 8-phase power, i say no.

But i also don't generally like to recommend dual GPU mobos unless you plan to use them that way.
There are many non Crossfire/SLI mobos that are very good anyway.

Yes but no Picture . Glad someone had a link to the Asus' website with a picture.

Anyone know when the DFI RD580 board will be coming out? Wana see how it performs against this Asus board.

Actually its too much - go over to xtreme if you think like that and join the members there who fry A64's memcontroller all the time with 1.65 and above. Hope you get lots of free HW like they do. Anandtech and Asus is about safe overclocks. Besides nothing a beta bios can't change if you want to get "xtreme".

According to the review there will be no DFI RD580 IIRC. They'll likely make an RD600 board tho.

For those who can't read, the main thing about the vcore is that it's variable.
It's based in the CPU you have installed.

With most current X2s & A64s having a default vcore of 1.4V (or less), that'd mean that with the 0.2V overvoltage, your max vcore is very unlikely to be higher than 1.6V
Honestly though, i don't think anyone should be using that much though.

Exactly. Actually X2's and dual opties have vcore 1.35, because of the higher thermal density. Frankly anything more than 0.1v overvolt rarely seems to yield a worthwhile overclock relative to the attendant increase in temperature. Maybe 0.15, but above that you're likely decreasing the life of the processor, if not risking frying it outright. Like Zebo said.

Can you name a few that are equal to current SLI boards in terms of features? That's the only reason I am looking at SLI. Non-SLI boards either don't have the newest features, or don't have passive cooling, etc. They have been kind of left behind while the board makers focus on SLI/Crossfire.

I have some reading to do, but what's the draw to this RD580 over nVidia? Is it the cost? ULi? Crossfire? Stability? Overclocking? HD sound?

The only one of those that would matter for my uses would be stability. So if it is at least equal to or better then, say, the A8N32 (minus 8-phase) in features and speed, and then you add on more stability with no overclocking, then I will also consider the RD580.

Ok but what if we do water cooling is it enough?

I will be watching this board closely. If it turns out to be as good as Anand's review, then it will be my next board.

Since I've got a half-broken nForce3 board I need to RMA and a x1900XT in a box in my closet waiting to be used I think I'll be buying one guinnea pig style right when they come out.

I'm not gong to do any severe overclocking right out of the gate but I'll probably post experiences and details here (or at beyond3d) when I get mine. Anyone notice that the original AT article was back up again this morning, but is down again this evening?

On that note, if anyone sees them become availble anywhere...

High volts by itself will kill your proc, and will do so at a lower temperature than would happen with lower volts. Even at, say 1.65, it's questionable if the processor will die sooner than it would otherwise.
and THE ARTICLE'S DOWN AGAIN!!! weirdness.

Release date for the A8R32-MVP is March 2nd. It will be available for sale on launch day. Many retailers have already received stock but don't list it yet.
...

And you're right. This is a retail, release motherboard and not a pre-production. ATi was originally going to introduce RD580 WITH the R580 (X1900XT) on January 20th. We have heard that Asus had boards ready then when they learned the launch was delayed by ATI until March 2nd.

Don't know if this means you'll be able to get one before 3/2. If not you can always send me that X1900XT to me and I'll test it for ya.

as long as it isn't a ringer like the last one, it looks pretty good.

the gigE doesn't seem to work on my A8R-MVP, maybe that's a problem too

Well that bites the big one. was hopin to get 4 dimms at 1T, and maybe 6 USB on the back I/O. Seems like Asus will be the board for me, unless Abit does better.

Quick question... Exactly what is an "Auto Clock Skew" that Wesley mentions in his post? Just an built in AI for overclocking, or...?
