Length of time: running: since highschool on and off. Bootcamp: off and on for the last 6 yrs. res. str.: last couple of months, yoga: last 2 yrs.
Future interests/goals: I'd like to run a 10K (my back issues have changed my goals somewhat) I don't want to be "old" I want to be active, and set a good example for my two boys to always lead and active healthy lifestyle. I want to be toned, and strong (for me).

Other info: From the age of 20 I've began to struggle with my weight ie. came from living in a healthy active environment, to a sedentary unhappy one, and gained 60ish pounds. I lost all and more of that weight, all before I had kids, so thankfully my mentality was that of living a healthy lifestyle after I had them. I still struggle, it's going to be lifelong, I'm naturally curvy and won't ever me model thin, not that I want to be. I enjoy being active, and will continue doing so till the day I die!

Name: Conor
Age: 31
Stats: 5'10", 225ish
Location - Muskego, WI - near Milwaukee
Main interests - strength training, swimming, water polo, wakeboarding, surfing when I'm in California visiting my family and friends.

Length of time: I played water polo and swam all through high school and college, 10+ years ago. Water polo is almost non-existent in Wisconsin and swimming requires a pool, which my gym doesn't have. Weight training was part of both sports, but we weren't coached in "how to lift weights properly." I started StrongLifts/Starting Strength a little less than a year ago.

Goals: Squat 1.5x my bodyweight, Bench Press 265, and Deadlift 405 by the end of the year.
My wife and I just had our first child about 2 weeks ago, so my main goal is spending time with them while still making it to the gym at least twice a week.

If you look at my profile, I used to be 8-9lbs lighter (at the same height) in university, and I was running very fast then. Mind you I had less muscle mass and less power than I do now, so it's a trade-off.

I'm actually about 15 pounds heavier now than I was entering college. I do a bit of lifting, but not enough to really bulk up; more endurance-based stuff like lots of pushups, pullups, crunches, lunges and single-leg squats. I've only had my bf % tested once and it was 6-7%. Maybe a bit lower now as I'm running more mileage. FWIW, I just finished a 20-miler and I'm down to 131 lbs now. And I have a t-shirt that says "Gaunt is beautiful" I know I'm a scrawny mofo but right now all I care about is running fast. Once I start to slow down I'll probably focus on lifting and getting a better overall fitness.

:Q 6-7% !!? Wow. According to my trainer, that's pretty much where you should be during peak racing season, but it's a pretty low level to sustain during training. I was tested at 9% about 4 months when I started strength training, so I would expect to be around 8% now. But yea, gaunt is beautiful! Whatever makes you faster for sure.

Stats: 6' 155 lbs
Location: Ohio
Main interest/specialty: I love doing anything active. I can't name one sport that I don't like to participate in, but I've had my best results in distance running.
Length of time: Sports as long as I can remember. Distance running began when I was a junior in high school (age 17).
Future interests/goals: Get in shape for Boston and PR there. Maybe do an Ironman next year as well (if I have time).
Other info: PRs: 1:57 800m, 4:26 1600m, 16:34 5K, 36:xx 10K <--- those time in high school. Most recent race: Cincinnati Fying Pig Marathon, 2:45:11.
Picture: Later

I'm currently lifting to try to get my whole body stronger. Also taking a break from hardcore running until the fall. Putting in about 20 miles a week and I lift 3 times 45 mins a week. Playing frisbee and basketball, and getting my ass kicked by school is what I do right now
Plan to run Boston, and plan to PR. We'll see how I look in the winter... also if my dad is in shape he wants to do an Ironman, and I'd like to do it with him. We'll see.

Other info: Ummm... PRs are 16:40 5K, 27:32 8K, 1:19:05 half, 3:18:42 marathon (crashed and burned 16 miles in). I was never a good runner and only broke 19 minutes after deciding to get serious and start training heavily. I'm a big believer in high mileage; I hit 85 miles per week training for 5K/8K last year and hope to hit 100mpw this year. That coupled with a structured plan of hills, long intervals and tempo runs has garnered me marked improvements across the board. That's about it I suppose.

I know I'm not the only one to tell you this, but you are skiiiiiinnnyy. I never was very good at distance since I'm a bit more meaty. If you feel good and like running though, man, then I guess I really just gotta say more power to ya.

After reading the first first line in SC's reply, I coulda sworn you were going to tell him he's Seth Green's fit doppleganger.

Stats: 5? 10? 205 ~ 17-18% BF
Location: Salem, OR
Main interest/specialty: Weight training, general fitness, running
Length of time: Was a scholarship athlete (men?s soccer) in college. Began weight training in 1991 when I broke my leg playing indoor soccer.
Future interests/goals: cut down to 185 while maintaining muscle mass. Correct upper body-lower body strength imbalance. Eventually get back to road running.

Other info:

I was an athlete my whole life. I played every sport as a kid, but focused entirely on soccer once I entered high school. Got a scholarship to Whitworth College where I lettered all 4 years and started 2 years. Back then my playing weight was about 155 on a 5?10? frame. Several body fat tests during yearly training camps had me @ about 7%.

Fast forward 14 years? I?ve put on probably around 20 pounds of muscle and am the strongest I?ve ever been by far, but I?ve also gained too much fat. At age 32 my metabolism slowed wayyyyy down and I probably put on 40 pounds of fat over 3 years. Now @ 36 I?m determined to get lean again.

Age: 25
Stats: 5'10", 205 lbs., 22% body fat
Location: Orange County CA
Main interest/specialty: Crossfit, Olympic weightlifting, gymnastics
Length of time: almost 2 years
Future interests/goals: 300 pound back-squat, 400 pound dead-lift, ring muscle-up, freestanding handstand, increase pull-ups to 20 consecutive, drop to 180 pounds @ 10% body fat.

Picture: Here is my fatness

Other info: I never really played sports (other than flag football in 7th grade) because I'm terrible at most of them. I started lifting weights in my 9th grade weight training class. I was quite small then, and throughout the next 3 years I continued to lift and got up to about 165 pounds. We focused a lot on bench press, but it was there where I was introduced to Olympic weightlifting. I wasn't very serious about lifting at the time, and I gave it up my senior year. When I got to college I started gaining weight, eventually hitting 205 pounds. I took another weight training class, started running, and got to 190 pounds, but I still had a lot of body fat. After I graduated college I started working a desk job, and eventually got up to 235 pounds due to lack of exercise and a terrible diet. So in September of 2007 I started reading about ways to get in shape, and learning how to eat correctly. I did the whole bodybuilding split style workouts for a few months before I found out about Starting Strength, and then Crossfit. I started Crossfitting in January '08, and was pretty consistent through about August of that year. At my lowest I weighed 196 pounds @ 18% body fat. After that my motivation kind of sagged, and I had only been going to the gym once or twice a week and was just doing pure strength training. My diet started to slack, and I was drinking quite a bit of alcohol (I have a very high tolerance). In May of this year I decided to get back on the wagon, and as of June 1st I joined a new Crossfit gym, stopped drinking, started the Zone diet again, and found that motivation that I thought I had lost. I'm feeling better than I have in months, and I hope to be under 200 pounds by July.
