We need more mental hospitals, psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, and programs to help people cope with the insane world in which we live.

Making it harder for crazy people to get guns might also be wise, but, it's tough to do that while still respecting people's rights.

It's a lot more complicated than that and more mental hospitals, psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, and programs aren't going to make the dent that you and I would like it to make.

For one thing, respecting people's rights means you can't help people that don't want help, and a lot of times those are the ones that need it the most.

It's also important to raise children right since birth and that is the job of parents not mental hospitals, psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, nor programs. Not even talking about budget problems yet and that the powers that be would rather buy a new yacht than fix issues they think won't affect them while delegating the issue to law enforcement rather than prevention because statistically they might actually be right about it being unlikely to affect them.

They are saying no suicides among the victims. 7 adults and a 16 yr-old. If I lived in those parts and was in any way related to the family Rhoden, I'd be out of there until the shooter(s) were caught.

Regardless if it prevents a few of these shootings or none at all, access to mental care in this country is embarrassingly lacking. We should be providing a metric fuckload more mental care facilities and personnel just because it's the right thing to do. With that in place hopefully as time goes on it would de-stigmatize people to mental diseases and more people will voluntarily seek help. As it is even those who do want help often don't have access to anything remotely resembling competent care.

As for this very sad shooting, it seems like someone is trying to wipe out an entire family. I'm wondering if it's an internal family feud of some sort or someone they had a history of trouble with? The police are saying it's not an active shooter situation and no arrests so it sounds like the shooter offed himself.

My thoughts go to the rest of the family, I couldn't imagine losing so many of my family in one horrendous day like this and being kept in the dark has got to be scary and frustrating. I'd be high tailing my kids the fuck out of town though until I knew for sure it was over.

Drug cartel in rural Ohio? I'd bet that this is some miffed guy that felt cheated in some way by the family and decided to take revenge. You know, maybe the teens vandalize a lonely middle-aged guy's house a couple times, the family doesn't do anything, at some point he snaps and decides to kill them all (except the children cuz I guess he has some sense of empathy).

If this was in a border town or something I'd have a different opinion. Personally I think it's either a family member or someone that they have had a long standing feud with.
