Too little is known yet to make any comments---its just very sad that innocent children are dead---and I have to agree with Stunt---this is no joking matter
and there is no humor in it anywhere.

What now angers me is the piece on the CBS evening news---in which they dredged up a parent of a student killed at Colabine---who got a free soapbox to attribute this to lack of religion and abortion---even after it was known the perp was a church member.

Story says 3 dead plus the shooter.

I think all these school shootings are copy cat crimes. Out of the blue this guy decided to act our some 20 year old grudge? Or did all the recent coverage of school shootings make him decide that was what he wanted to do?

Interesting, he lost a baby in 1997, they are trying to figure out if that had anything to do with this.

I've been through Ohio Amish country, very beautiful and such pure hearted people, it is a shame anyone could do such a thing to people like this.

Probably both. Grudge + suggestion = disaster

Indiana Jones? Snap the wip and knock the gun out of his hand. Than loop the wip over a roof support beam, swing across the room and kick the guy out through the window.

But given the reality of the situation it would be the teacher there at the time who was the only hope for those precious people we lost there. I say arm all teachers - period. Even the women teachers. A shoulder holster fits well under a loose shirt even on a hot day. Also have an alarm button to the local cop shop at her desk and on a device she carries with her around the room.

Cop-killers and kid-killers are the scum of the Earth. So we all should just kill them killerz as we see fit to do. In accordance with the simple 1800's style Western American justice that worked so well for so many years in building a mighty Nation up from scratch.

About the current trend this recent Amish school shooting further sets here in America...

...there is some sort of darkness sweeping the land.

...time to arm and defend.

There seems to be an increasing number among us real men of snivelling anti-men who are pathetic worms who attack kids and the good cops who are just out there to protect the kids.

What happened to the old days when men were real men. Remember those? If you had a grudge it was first of all never violent against a women. Secondly, it was fought man to man on equal fair footing with no ambushing allowed.

Agree with you 100%. I think we should force teachers to carry handguns. The only problem would obviously be the crazy teachers who once a year take out children. So as long as

X (number of children who die each year to school related violence in unarmed schools) is > Y (number of children who die each year to armed teachers) than it makes sense to do it.

I personally hate this person, not only for killing this children but taking his own life. What a cowardly, dispicable thing to do, at least stand up and take responsibility for what you have done. If you are ever going to be a total coward and commit suicide because your life is too hard, do it quietly. Sure no one will give a ****** about you, and will think you are a coward but at least you will not ruin other lives in the process.

Mennonites and Amish are a bloodline, my mother's side was very liberal with their beliefs. I have distant relatives who do not use electricity, ride horse and buggy, and live off the land.

Educate yourself

also see Amish as an ethnic group

Amish is like being Jewish; it's a nationality tied to a religion. Would you have been as critical if someone said they were "50% Jewish"; even if they do not practice the religion?

But thanks for being a complete moron; showing your lack of knowledge on MY background.

Oh please, just because the Amish don't consider people who left to be Amish doesn't mean Stunt can't consider his heritage to be 50% Amish.

Just like a man with a third removed cousin on his wife's side through wedlock who was native makes him 1/16th native right?

Why are we debating religion?--or Amish vs. non Amish---splitting fine hairs. This was clearly the work of a deeply disturbed and mentally ill person. And quite a few attorneys
and supermarket tabloids will miss out on a big payday because the guy killed himself.

Very few mentally ill people become violent---but when they do its likely to be a really senseless act---the guy was clearly nuts---end of story---because no sense can or ever will be made of it.--------by my heart goes out to the parents of the children killed---and even to the wife and children of the gunman. Whose lives will be really ripped apart.

Maybe some facts may come out that may shed some limited light---its time to wait for that time---buts its impossible to make sense of the senseless---and backbiting and diviseness is the last thing needed now.

I live in Lancaster as well..... a real tradgedy, although I'm not sure there's really any way to prevent such a thing, a guy with guns that's determined to do harm, will, in fact, do harm....... It just sucks that Lancaster has been in the national news a lot this year, all due to horrific murders...... and one Floyd Landis........ Oh well....

In case you're not keeping tabs, the latest possible explanations are either the grief for his daughter who died after birth 9 years ago, or two family members who he claims he molested 20 years ago (nobody's been in contact with them yet to confirm anything).

If you want to start a debate on the NRA or gun control please start your own thread since I don't want it to end up like the one in off topic.

I guess if he wants some of the casino money he'll have to take it up with the tribe.

Truly a terrible tragedy.

In this context, it is heartening to hear an American Christian faith that actually gets it CNN
PARADISE, Pennsylvania (CNN) -- A grieving grandfather told young relatives not to hate the gunman who killed five girls in an Amish schoolhouse massacre, a pastor said on Wednesday.

"As we were standing next to the body of this 13-year-old girl, the grandfather was tutoring the young boys, he was making a point, just saying to the family, 'We must not think evil of this man,' " the Rev. Robert Schenck told CNN.

"It was one of the most touching things I have seen in 25 years of Christian ministry."
