At my wits' end!

I posted this on the PlanetAMD64 forum, but I thought since I read this site a lot, I'd post it here, too, in case on of you geniuses out there could point me in the right direction. I've been working on this all week, and I'm about at the end of my rope! Arrrgh! >_<

******************
Okay, so I'm new to the site, and I've got a couple of questions. To preface, my basic specs are as follows:

AMD64 3200+ @ 2GHz (stock)
1GB Corsair XMS3202v1.5 DDR400 (2-3-3-6@1T)
eVGA 7900GT CO 256MB (stock)
DFI NF4 Infinity (non-SLI) PCI-e
2x 74GB WD Raptors
1x 250GB Barracuda (SATA)
1x LightScribe DVD-RW/CD-RW
Antec NeoHE 550w PSU
Windows XP Pro x64 (fully patched)

Here are the two major problems for which I can't seem to get any answers from nVidia:

1.) I was originally trying to use the nVidia BIOS to stripe my two Raptors into one ~139GB virtual partition. I did this using the x64 RAID CLASS RIVER and nVidia Storage Controller Driver (per the knowledgebase info) and x64 set up, both text and graphical, ran just fine. However, when the PC rebooted after setup, right as it goes to load the x64 splash screen, it reboots. It gets stuck in this cycle- it NEVER gets into the OS. The next time it comes up, it asks if I want to go into Safe Mode or boot normally. Both Safe Mode and Normal, and any of the other available options, yield the exact same result: reboot. I can't for the life of me figure out what it is. If I disable the RAID in the nVidia BIOS and just install x64 on one of the standalone raptors (as I'm currently running), it works just fine. I posted a question to nVidia, but they don't seem too keen on a quick reply. I've tried the most current x64 chipset drivers from nVidia, as well as a few of the older versions - all of them do the exact same screen.

2.) Now that I've accepted (for now) running x64 on a standalone Raptor w/o hardware striping, I'm running into some pretty odd video problem. Namely, no games that I've reloaded so far will let me select a resolution over 1280x1024. I have a Dell 2005FPW 20.1" wide-aspect LCD, and before rebuilding my system I was able to do this just fine (though the ol' x800 choked pretty hard on it!). Now, the options aren't even available in the list of resolutions. So far, Battlefield 2 and the open-source Total Annihilation (yeah..I know.. tongue.gif) both stop at 1280x1024. TASpring actually lets me pick 1600x1200, but it won't actually load the game with it. I haven't loaded any other games yet, but this kinda' concerns me.

I know I'm asking a lot on my first post, but any input you guys might have on this would be appreciated. I've been scouring the web for ANY information on these two problems, and what information I have found has been little, piece-meal, and ineffective. Please help!

Thanks!

I'd also like to note that since originally posting this, I installed Dawn of War, which also presented the same 1280x1024 resolution problem as BF2 and TASpring. I've also tried installing an older GeForce driver (84.25) and ensured I was running the latest DirectX version. Neither of them corrected the issue.

Well I can't answer your 2nd question as I don't run x64 or 1600x1200. But I can pretty much answer your first question. I tried running the nVRAID drivers myself as a fresh install of XP on both a A8N-SLi Deluxe and my new A8N32-SLi Deluxe and everytime I try it causes a reboot in the install right before I go to create partiton screen. After about an hour of research I found that the nVRAID drivers typically dont work. So I am now currently running a RocketRAID 2310 which I love. I dont know if thats an option to buy a new raid controller card or not but the bottom line is the nVRAID drivers are a crap shoot sometimes they work most of the time they dont.
