At office, wireless signals slow down for some laptops

We have a Netgear router at work and we have two desktops plugged directly into it, and 8 laptops connecting wirelessly to it.

At certain points of the day the connection for some of the wireless computers will slow down, while some, like mine, will remain fast. I've updated it to the latest firmware, tried switching around the channels from 6, 3, 11, etc..but the problem still persists. Any tips?

Probably just traffic or interference. Microwave ovens are notorious in office environments.

#1 cause of wireless problems between 11:30 and 1? Microwave ovens.

8 laptop on one End-User Wireless Router/AP.

My guess would be that 12 computers would do even better. :hmm:

Come-on it is business spend few $$$ more.

Like Spidey said, prob interference. I've seen this happen where all the laptops in the office on 2.4 dropped yet all the 5Ghz ones stayed connected. Assuming that at least some of your laptops have abgn, it might be worthwhile investing in a higher class concurrent dual band model. If you have the budget, get a separate router and SOHO/Enterprise Access Point.
