So far poeple who own the CenDyne 32x drive have identified the rebadged mfgs as Lite-on, verbatim (Rebadged Lite-ons), Mitsumi (16MB Buffer and supports the 'Mt. Rainier' format) and now the AOpen (reads at 48x, 8MB Buffer).

To identify which rebadged drive is in the Cendyne box look at the serials # on the top right label at the back of the box.

Lite-on 32x mfg drive have 12 digits, no letters - Sample (123456789012)
Verbatim 32x mfg drive have 12 digits, no letters - Sample (123456789012) (seem to be rebadged Lite-on 32x drives)
Mitsumi 32x drives have 22 digits mostly numbers -Sample (CR-123ATE45678A12QH9012). Also says 16BM buffer on the box.
New! AOpen 32x drives have 23 digits mostly numbers with three letters near the end -Sample (123D1234567890123JED1)U]

edit: The ad certainly mentions a $40.00 mir, maybe a new one is coming out as the other expires.

I added coupon and drive online but did not order, instead printed that order page and showed it to the local B&M store. Manager was nice enough to honour (honor) $25 off $100 and let me look at the drive serial number to make sure its all digit(for LiteOn). YMMV. Good luck.

MysticMan1: You are my hero. Staples shafted me on the $30 deal last week. I ordered first thing Monday(5/20) morning(they were still in stock according to the web page). When my drive didn't come this past Tuesday, I looked at my order status and found out that they had cancelled my order. I called them and said, "WHAT THE fuk!!" Of course by now the deal had been expired and they said they could not honor the rebate now because it was limited to "in-stock" items only. LOL. She asked me if I still wanted to order the drive and I calmly said no and hung up. I knew another deal would come around! YAY. I'll definately jump on this one. Keep up the good work!

Well considering they are advertising the mail in rebate in their ad, I can only assume the MIR is going to be extended. Otherwise you're going have some pissed off customers.

I don't see why not, this is a different rebate offer from a different store, unless it says one rebate per year or something like that it should be OK.

Yeah, they tried to say oos on me too but I checked their website again and they were back. This was after the rebate period of course so they emailed me back and asked if I still wanted my order. Duh, I told them yes as long as you have my original date of purchase and original order #, I'll just mail in the rebate before June 25th. It' now suppose to be here by the 6th, but they still have it on the original order #/date so we'll see if I get the rebate! I think I should...? I am complying with all the rules. Right? Anyway, great post Mysticman. Gonna order another one from OM just in case Staples says, cancel/oos.
