At Outpost.com: PNY GeforceFX 5900 - $299

The 5900 is slightly faster than the 9800 NP. I'm not interested in any hot deals, the only card I'll consider is the Gainward 5900 Golden Sample. It comes clocked at near Ultra speeds, and the reviews I've seen show it overclocks up to 495\987mhz. At those speeds, it stomps even the 9800 Pro into the ground.

Just a quick word of caution about PNY: I own a PNY GF4 4200 card. The first card I bought was dead out of the box. The exchanged card crapped out three and a half weeks ago (I bought it in November). PNY has a "lifetime" (how they define "lifetime" is another story altogether) warranty, so I sent it in for an exchange. I've been sitting here and waiting for a replacement for going on four weeks. They're "out of stock" on their own card. Don't know how that is possible. I for one am never getting any PNY product again.

Why not just refuse shipment and go out and buy the BFG 5900 FX for 299?[/quote]Cuz it was part of a 5-piece order (CPU, HS, RAM, mobo, FX) and I couldn't reject just the card cuz it came in one big box. Also, the Chaintech is the only non-Ultra 5900 FX I've seen that has VIVO and it comes with some games and content creation SW. Dig the new scene here

With tax, the BFG comes to $318 and even w/o the 15% restocking charge, by the time I paid to ship it back, it'd be a virtual wash. I can afford the $20 difference, but it doesn't mean I have to be all happy when I get ahead of a price drop by less than a week.

BFG does have VIVO. I just pick one up at fry's for $299.00 over the weekend. BFG look exactly like Chaintech.

Yes they chnaged it back this afternoon, good deal but still not an Ultra. I guess they are trying to go against Visiontek's deal with the ATI 9800 Pro for $299 at CUSA. Which is a better deal if you can wait for the rebate.
