I've been chasing these guys for about 2 months now, and I've just never gotten a good shot - i've had a couple fair shots.

I've quickly learned that 200mm outdoors, even on DX, is almost laughable for bird work.

I just happened to sneak up on the squadron yesterday.

One more ( and by "one more", I mean I really really have a hard time just posting one-photo. It's something I'm trying to work on ( just showing what I think is my best shot ) )

I really recommend an EXIF extension for your browser, they're very useful and getting you settings. Well, most of the time. Sometimes people strip out the EXIF data.

Great shots CuriousMike. I've found catching birds in flight to be quite difficult.

i think this is my best moon shot so far...

any tips? i guess i'm somewhat limited, still using the kit lens. this one shot at f/9, 1/50sec, ISO-800, 55mm.

zcypher, the moon looks overexposed and the color balance is off. You had the right idea including trees in the shot though.

i didn't realize it was that bad lol. what exactly do you mean about the color balance being off though?

i may have gotten carried away making it brighter than it should be, but it looks good to my eyes in that regard

No, it's not "that bad."

It looks a little yellow to me.

Two great shots. I love the colors and they are very sharp and balanced for what I assume the light was like. Kudos!

This one was much simpler to shoot
