This is my first imaging attempt with a new 5" telescope and new capture software. I've got a lot to learn but I think I prefer this method of shooting video rather than manually taking a bunch of RAW stills.

That's awesome!

Thanks Spoooon, Berliner, for the compliments - I liked the way the one trail felt like it was heading off into the unknown.

Out with the dog today:

Moon/Mars/Venus conjunction tonight.
I would have needed to composite images to give a more accurate view - the moon is a sliver... just a slim crescent. Damnable cameras need time to light up photons and make it look full.

^ i was hoping someone got a picture of the conjunction this evening...great shots! and i like that they're not over-saturated to make the moon look full...that way you can distinguish between the sunlit crescent and the earth-lit rest of the moon, thus capturing the true effect.

Awesome shot with the train Mike. I was disappointed that the clouds rolled in early Friday, so no conjunction pics for me.

Instead I went out for a walk in the snow this morning, and caught these geese snacking.

Went up to the observatory but couldn't stay as late as I wanted... I stayed for about 30 minutes after sunset.

Bonus shot: I randomly took a shot of Orions Belt as it's the only constellation I know - I noticed a cluster at the bottom, so mounted my 200mm (full frame) and shot this.
So, I'm now a Newbuela...

If you can find Orions Belt, point your camera at its at the belt of just below... there is the nebula.
I can only imagine what you might see if you have a DX camera and get 50% closer !

next time take a really long exposure, or stack several 2.5-5 sec. exposures...i'm not sure if your camera will capture it, but there's a ton of nebulosity around the Orion constellation and beyond (Google pictures of Barnard's Loop). what you've got there is just the Orion nebula, the brightest in the bunch. it is easily seen with binoculars, but still only enough light hits our eyes to make a out a smudge in grayscale. a nice camera or a telescope and CCD are necessary to capture the colors.

That's gorgeous Berliner.

This morning had some really nice frost on the windshield. This is from my phone camera, but not bad quality.

What tool did you use for that? I've used Astrometry, but it never looks that good.
