I see on the last page there were some pics of the milky water effect on moving water. I've been trying to get this shot right, but it is too hard in daytime with the sun out... I think I need a filter to get it just right, but these are my best so far:
No tripod, just set the camera on a ledge and change the shutter speed. A lot of them come out way too bright, but I just keep dialing it back.
I went back out today and took more heron pics. There were caracaras there but they were across an irrigated field. Between the heat shimmer and wind shake those pics came out well enough to tell that the birds were caracaras but that's about it. I'm pretty happy with the black crowned night heron pics. First is the chick, the second is the adult male. The two females opted out of having their pics taken.
This pic shows the male's breeding plumage (the white feather down the back). Apparently, the females think this is the bees knees.
Drove by the #2 processing plant earlier and it looked quite eerie. Wanted to wait till it's later so there's less traffic and people don't wonder what I'm doing and went back just now to grab a few shots. Looks like a scene from Silent Hill or Walking Dead or something. Though it was better earlier.
This had to be quick since my fingers were frozen lol. -35 with windchill. Too bad the best picture opportunities are always when it's so cold.
