Hello!
This is pretty much like the 3Com deal, but its a different modem. I believe that it is for AT&T Road Runner and @Home customers only.

I got a letter in the mail directly from AT&T.

The modem is $99 dollars (plus shiiping and/or tax).
The modem is the Motorola SB3100 SURFBoard.
You'll get a $10 discount off your monthly $45.95 charge, making it $35.95.

Here is the link for Road Runner.
Here is the link for @Home.

This modem goes for around $140 on egay.

Is this a warm deal?

Hope you guys like... the offer ends June 30th. I might get it myself... but I'll wait.

EDIT: It looks like AT&T has to send you a letter or email offering you this deal. Give them a call or try anyways. See what happens. Remember, I believe that the 3Com deal is still out there. Good Luck!

Why...oh why...doesn't Insight@Home offer me this deal? Especially since they just jacked their rates up another $5 a month. Plus, I pay $15 a month for the modem.

Oh, I think I just figured out why. If you can get away with anally raping your customers, why bother stopping?

kendogg...
get this modem... when you move to Fullerton just use this modem with Adelphia. I'm pretty sure that they will decrease the monthly charge if you have your own modem.

Dang! I just ordered the 3Com modem yesterday! My lease modem is the sb3100. C'est la vie!

FWIW: The first time I clicked on the link posted here, I also got the "cookies not enabled" message. Closed the page, clicked a second time, and it worked. C'est la Renault!

Like the 3com deal this is only if you have been chosen by AT&T by letter to be offered it. AT&T verified this in a phone call although the wouldn't let me speak to anyone involved in it and haven't answered my email.:|

On what basis do they choose these customers? This ticks me off! Is that even legal to only offer to a select group of customers and not to anyone else? :|

Ah, ok... Yes, I do believe they can do this. AT&T offers this to all their customers I believe. I also believe they have every right to do this. Its like offering a coupon to customers of theirs. Nothing wrong with that.

i don't know much about adelphia.... beverly hills is literally across the street from me and adelphia provides for them.
I'm pretty sure that they use DOCSIS standard modems... so as long as you have a DOCSIS modem like this motorola, then you are fine.

go to adelphia's website or just call them up.....

also, from friends that live in Santa Monica, i have heard that their cable modem service isn;t really fast. they have low caps.

good luck

Kenndogg,

Adelphia bought out comcast here in fullerton. The cable provider was @home. Im going to look into this deal as im paying the rental here on the motorola cybersurfer ive had for like 2 years. As a word of advice though, check out dsl, if you can get 1.5mbit down, id go with it. Fullerton is waaay oversubscribed. If your moving to east fullerton it can be pretty bad. Its tolerable on the west side, if you get a buena park node (bnapk)

I have AT&T roadrunner but the webpage isn't recognizing my account number.

Is it a peculiar format? I tried with and without dashes:
(Without giving away the actual numbers)
#####-######-#
Per AT&T.

By the way, I called AT&T and asked the tech what deals were available on cable modems for their service. So far as he was aware, only the 3COM deal is available, which is odd.

3COM deal

Sorry for asking this here, but what exactly is the advantage of owning your own modem? I have @home service and they provided me with a modem as part of my monthly package.

Would @home take some money off my monthly bill if I had my own modem? Could I have another computer hooked up with another modem without having to network my PC's?

Right now, it looks like I have two choices; I could either pay my regular montly bill and if I wanted to add a pc, I would either have to pay $40 a month for another computer (modem, IP address..) or I can network my two computers off my main hookup.

Would getting my own modem be of any benefit to me?

Once again, sorry for posting this on the deals forum.

TIA,

Sal
