AT&T Upgrade Check

So I bought an iPhone 5 in September and deeply regret my decision after playing with a Note 2.

I was on AmazonWireless dreaming about the Note 2 when I did an upgrade check for grins and chuckles.

...It passed and said I was eligible for an upgrade...

I then went to AT&T thinking it was a fluke, and it also passed!

Has anyone else had this "problem" before? I am thinking about selling my iPhone 5 (could probably get a decent amount for a perfect condition ~2 month device), and buying the Note 2. My main concern is AT&T coming back after the purchase and charging me full price.

I'd once the purchase goes through, they take your money, and ship the product there isn't a whole lot they can do. You wouldn't be the first to slip through the cracks. I had the same thing happen with Sprint a few years ago.

Just to make sure the system is working, I checked my wife's line and it says it will not be eligible until 2014.

I will just sit on this for a bit, and when the Galaxy Note 2 drops in price (Android phones seem to do this fairly quickly), I will pick one up. Can't believe my luck with this one.

That happened to me once on Verizon.

I'm not sure how it happened, but one day I noticed the "My Account" thing on their website showed that I was eligible for a cheap upgrade only 4 or 5 months after my last purchase contract.

Shortly thereafter I went shopping, paid the contract price for a new phone, my contract renewed, and it never happened again. Bummer.

That must have been in 2004 or so.

The Note didn't ever drop. If you see any discount on the contract Note 2, take it.

The Note and Note II don't really have any competition and are an ultra high end phones so there isn't really any reason to drop the price.

Yeah... Amazon has the Note 2 on backorder right now at $249, I think that is the best you are going to find it for.
