Vote for who is better and tell why if you can. I have to get a new plan for work and will be using a Blackberry Curve or 8830. The data service has to be good and the reception must be excellent. I'm in the Chicagoland area, but comments from any geographic location in the states would be helpful.

Morgantown WV - SERO plan

My roomie has AT&T and always has less reception than I do, pays more, and during high traffic times (right after a big game or holidays and whatnot) he gets a fast busy signal. Also, my internet connection is about a bazillion times faster. From what I hear, Sprint's customer service can be pretty craptastic, but I personally haven't had any issues but have heard hhorror stories.

sprint sero. enough said.

$30 for 500 anytime minutes, nights starting at 6PM or 7PM, unlimited texting, unlimited internet (evdo), unlimited roaming, unlimited walkie-talkie/readylink, unlimited picturemail, unlimited sprint to sprint, and the whole nine yards. you also get a 1 time HUGE discount off a phone too.

if you need more minutes, $50 gets you 1250 anytime minutes with the same perks mentioned above. if anyone actually needs anymore than that, $99 gives you 2500 minutes.

Been pondering switching from Sprint to AT&T when my contract runs out but it seems AT&T charges people for everything. With Sprint, I get a discount for being a long time customer, 300 text for $5.00, unlimited internet for $10.00, etc. Really, I've been very happy with Sprint's service and customer service. True, their customer service at times can be lacking but I think that goes for any cell provider. Truly, the only thing that makes me want to switch is not getting service in the building where I work. People with Tmobile, AT&T, and Verizon can get service, just not Sprint

Well, I'll be talking a lot, so I'm going with a 2100 minute plan. I'm not really sure what the Sero is to be honest, but I've been told that the only phone that works with our system is the Blackberry.

you can get a blackberry plan with sero but its $40 a month on top i think... its pretty retarded. i think the best blackberry plans are with tmobile.. another excellent company. you have to watch coverage with them though, you wont get reception in remote places.

I am with Sprint - been with them for over 5 years. Right now, they are battling to simply stay alive. I expect to be notified within a year that they are acquired. Right now, the best suitor is Verizon, because their signals and methods of propagation (towers, etc.) are compatible.

Why is Verison not in the mix?

I used to have ATT (Cingular/BellSouth Mobil) for almost 10 years. Not bad but not great.

Just changed to Sprint because of the SERO deal ($30 vs. $40 with ATT plus unlimit data/internet/text plans). So far so good with Sprint (performance speaking).

Yup. When I was thinking about moving to SERO by Sprint, I really wanted a Curve but I would have to pay $40 on top of the regular SERO monthly fee of $30. Therefore, I picked the Motorola Q9C for about the same price but no extra monthly fee.

Sprint has 3G, but ATT uses GSM phones. Hmmm.....if only there were a happy medium. A GSM provider with 3G.

if verizon is unlocking their network and becoming much more like sprint, maybe they are planning on merging the companies. the technology is all the same and it would give cdma a better chance against gsm

Huh? You are naming ATT! I guess you didn't know they offer 3g?

I had Sprint for 9 years, just switched to ATT. Better phone selection (although Sprint is getting better) and better signal reception. In my experience 3G is just as fast as EVDO when I stream from a Slingbox.

The fact that I can switch phones just by dropping my SIM in a different phone is priceless.

This is a YMMV thread. Of course. My personal experience is...GSM blows. But again, it works well since it is used more worldwide than anything else

Oh I pick Sprint. Faster network, and nothing beats SERO.

I like ATT ads but I hate ATT as a company, besides their poor CS , I have to deal with them for my work (telecom related), lots of clueless people working there

Not to mention the total lack of any 3g network!

Sprint is the best deal bar none...even if you get the $99 everything plan. The SERO plan is just icing on the cake.

Umm...please check your facts again. Sprint's EVDO RevA network is agruably the fastest and best coverage in the country. SUSTAINED rates of >1.2Mbps download...faster than DSL at time!

Sigh, is Sprint phones easy to switch out like GSM phones? (Buying phones from ebay or something)

Sprint is CDMA, but they recently released a web-based tool that you switch your Phone's ID quite easily online....without having to call CS.

You should visit Howardforums, and make a post in both the Sprint & at&t forums, so you can get an idea of whats best in your area.

My telling you to avoid Sprint like the plague, because they suck here, really isn't going to help you there in Chicago. I could sing the praises of at&t, and how much I love them, but I spend most of my time in the NJ/NY area. Sure, I spent a week in Chicago last year, & service was great, but I didn't have a data plan. Go see Howard.
