Called up ATT last night to try to get some roaming minutes, and they changed my plan to free roaming.
I used to be on 400 mins regional with unimited nights and weekends and ld for 49.99
They changed me to

WHAT A DEAL!!!! Beats any of the other carriers! And Yes, I was still under my years contract, I had about 10 months to go. They made me extend it a year, so now I've got 12 more months to go! The lady that helped me out was Crystal!

the regional advantage is no roaming within your certain area... I have the same plan for the northeast region... it would be super hot if it was nationwide no roaming

Sounds like a decent deal, but I wouldn't say it beats all. Verizon has nationwide no long distance, no roaming, 300 Anytime, 3000 N&W for $35. Plus, I live out in the boonies, so can't get AT&T here last I checked.

Yep Go Terps is right, only within your region(but in the western states it can cover up to 11 states). There is a way to get 200 any +1000NW for 39.99 with nationwide roaming & LD. If that's what you got plus the extra mins, you got lucky.

The "dor like promo"(no roaming & LD nationwide) is only allowed with 1000 NW mins and the base anytime mins for the 39.99 reg adv plan.

Gump, I think you're talking about the verizon "American Choice" plan. Its no roaming or LD while on their network (similar to sprint). AT&T has one for $50 the "Network Advantage" plan. Its 500 any + unlimited NW +roaming and LD while on network.

No guys....it's the regional advantage with a promo code for NO ROAMING ANYWHERE IN THE US!
Yes..no roaming anywhere....and they let me keep nights and weekends and added 300 bonus minutes!
Superior plan. If you're on AT&T give them a call and try to get them to do that to your plan!!

Gump - where are you located? I'm in the boonies up at school in vermont. If ATT cant find a digital signal on their network, they use a Cingular 800MHZ TDMA Tower....and ugh, if they cant find that, they'll jump on a verizon AMPS (analong) tower.

I'm going to call tonight and see if I can get on it... any more deals... possibly a promo code or something else I could mention... my experience in the past is that 9/10 ATT customer service reps have no clue whats going on... so any more information available on this would be GREAT

hm.. I have ATT. I am in NJ. Have that 400 minutes any time and Unlimited nights (after 8pm) and weekends with no expiration.. PLan is local.... (Advantage PLus I think it is called).
StaplesSux, what is the promo code? (PM me) and what did u use to tell them to up your minutes that much?

It's for real. Have them throw them on the regional advantage 200 min plan for 40 bucks
and tell them you need nationwide roaming. If she gives you any sh!t just tell her cinular has it.
They'll stick you on that....
add in a free roaming and long distance code
keep your nights and weekends
add promo 100 mins
add another promo 200 mins!

It does NOT include national roaming, just includes long distance calls from your home area..
Not a bad deal....
I am NOT signing a 2 year extension though.. Nextel is gonna be awesome in a year or two when they launch their satellites..

My girlfriend lives in Cali, and I go to school in VT....thats why I wanted it.
Its not in the plan discription...but it's int he promo codes in it!
No roaming anywhere....dont get off the phone until they do it.
They can...and will if you get the right person.
Try talking to a Crystal there.

Would rather not give away phone number, but it is doable.
Talk your way into it..thats what I did....however, crystal was "easy"

BTW..it was a 1 year extension...and considering how many off peak minutes I use and Nextel doesnt work in VT it was this or switching to another carrier...cingular..or verizon..but vz is ANALOG up here

I just read through this entire thread (not that long) and I want this deal. However, with all the back and forth talk and with StaplesSucks getting all hyper about it, it sounds kinda confusing. Is it just me, or is it not clear what exactly you get and how exactly you get it? I really don't think I can convince a customer service rep to give me a "custom" deal just cause I say Cingular has it or someone else got it "But I can't give out his number". What exactly are these "Promo Codes"? What exactly does 300 bonus minutes mean to us? I would really like this deal, but I'm not totally convinced that StaplesSucks has everything straight. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets his first bill after the switch to find out that he actually doesn't have unlimited N&W and that Crystal doesn't know what she's talking about. In any case how in the hell are we supposed to get Crystal on the phone? They don't have extensions.

Nextel is due to roll out GSM by 2003 all over the US.
I'd try calling until you can get the 200+100 bonus mins.

BTW, I don't want to give out my number for two reasons
#1. I get enough calls for sales on my cell that I dont need more!
#2. If they say you cant do that...cross reference my account, they COULD take it back.

in a year something better will be out and the price will be lower too. i'm gonna call now. i've been paying $49.99 for 400 with no free roaming...so 400 with free roaming for $10 less a month is a good deal for me. i'll keep my nokia 8260 for 12 more months and then switch to a web enabled phone when there are some good new models available.
