To all members using the Anandtech and ATOT free webhosting.

I will be ending the service on August 1, 2007.

Please backup your data and find alternative hosting.

Thanks to those that donated. The servers have been paid for the next 2 months.

Thanks for your support.

How exactly do you backup your data? Just DL all FTP stuff to your PC?

Also does anyone know any really cheap hosting that is good?

Same here.

My site is just for fun and for neighbors to see a schedule of events we are doing. Basically no traffic at all. I'll need somewhere to move it to. And I used the RV SiteBuilder thing to set it up so somewhere that supports that would be great.

Thanks all.

The only thing that is getting ridiculous are your comments and demands. I suggest you pack up and get out of here. Almost all of your posts have a negative tone to them. This was way above and beyond for Dartworth to do for the ATOT community. Frankly you should be happy that you had even a 50% uptime for a free service.

Judging by this thread I see that no good deed goes unpunished. I can understand dartworth's decision to end the service.

Hey Dartworth,

Thank you for providing such a great service. It was excellent while it lasted, and I had no problems with it.

I found your free service to be so much better than my former hosting provider, which just happened to be a huge hosting company.

Thank you again Dartworth, for the free hosting, and I wish you the best in all your future endeavors!

For those looking for alternative hosting, I recommend HostPC. I am currently using them for my site.

it was great, i am sad.

Btw. i do think a VERY good free host is freehostia.com, although there is a filesize limit, AFAIK.

hello,

since we're talking about already. Cold you people who recommend hosts give any more details, eg. whether those hosts have any limits, whether they're free and what features (mysql, PHP etc.) they support ?
Then we could have a small top-list of recommended hosts by ATers....maybe better than the known "big ones".
