I know you can't get them at BestBuy, CC or Target, but Walmart still had them last time I was there (a few weeks ago)

But what about online like Amazon.com??

I saw the WarnerBros is going to stop 'supporting' the format after May 31. Does this mean they will stop making them and after amazon etc sell them then they are gone?

What about the other studios?

I don't see myself going to blu-ray any time soon due to the high cost and there are still a few HD DVDs I'd like to buy.

Anyone have hard information on this?

I'd say they'll be gone before you know it. Sure you can pick them up used in the future, but brand new ones will probably disappear very soon. That's why I bought all the ones I wanted already.

Define "market". I strongly suspect that they'll linger on eBay and the used market for a couple years, but you probably won't be able to buy them new, period, by the end of this summer.

I just ordered Fearless and Doom on Amazon for ~$30. They still have Twister available for pre-order in May. After that I have pretty much every movie I wanted and couldn't care less what happens.

I would say through 08 you should be able to find them on Amazon like sites. After that ebay will be your friend for years to come. I still have to get an A30 for when I get a 1080p set.

Personally there arent any movies left that interest me. My collection tops out at about ~30 titles. From here on out Ill see what happens in the market. It really depends on how netflix goes. If they start offering HD content that is good enough then Blu-Ray may never see the light of day in my house.

I bought a Blu-Ray player first, and then two HD-DVD players and about 20 HD-DVD movies. I was snatching up the cheaper HD-DVD movies for a while, and now it hit me:

In another week or two, we will see the very last new release launched on HD-DVD

HD-DVD players are a great buy right now, particularly if you also want to utilize the upconverting capabilities. But the format is about to see a sharp decline, as its library becomes more and more dated. Whether we see a sharp sell-off, or just a gradual elimination, either way, you're going to be wishing those HD-DVD movies were Blu-Ray movies in a couple of years.

^ yea that is my thought too.

I may buy a few more just to complete collections. Own all the Harry Potter movies in HD but one etc.
But otherwise doubt I will invest much money unless I find them really cheap.

Not really. I bought my HD-DVDs to make sure I had the movies I wanted in HD. Paramount and Universal may not release those movies on Blu-Ray for a looong time. In the mean time, I'll be watching them in all their glory. And when I get tired of using my HD-DVD players (A3 & A35) for watching HD-DVDs, I'll just convert the HD-DVDs to Blu-Ray. Problem solved.

HDM hasn't taken off during or after the format war. At least during the format war we saw more deals for the early adopters to take advantage of. Gone are the $10 Blu-Rays. Exactly where are these Blu-Ray replacements for the HD DVD exclusives? Where's the price drop for Blu-Ray players?

I'm really glad I held onto my HD DVDs. By the time Blu-Ray become widely adopted, HD DVD will have served its purpose (HD at value prices) many times over.

Price drop on BR will take long. No competition to worry about. yet.
