Sigh... still can't connect to the log in server .
define wrong target, i find that most tanks don't mark shit, so i just pick a mob and DPS it
Given that I tank on a Paladin, I am rarely forced to switch targets (like the old Warrior way), so after the first two or so seconds into a fight, I have typically selected the target which will receive the most threat. The AoE threat is decent, but it won't hold up to a decent DPS (even with Inquisition).
So in other words, as a DPS... I select the tank, watch him run in, after the guys are grouped up, I press F and attack. It's usually fairly solid for Paladins. Also, there's a realization that if your threat is catching up to the tank like wildfire, is there a chance that you're
not focusing on the same target that the tank is? If I catch up to the tank on a mob, I can simply hit F twice and go to whatever the tank is targeting now.
I could hit my MANT macro (Main Assist No Text) that puts a Skull on my target but does not use a Raid Warning, but that's too much work .
For the most part, I don't really care if you are attacking a different target as I can just taunt it, but if you start bitching about "threat generation" because of your poor target choice, then I'm going to get annoyed. Although, it could be a problem if all three DPS in a heroic are targeting different mobs and all produce good DPS (an in turn, good TPS). I usually produce around 20k-27k single target threat, but my AoE threat is significantly less (around 10-13k), so good DPS might be able to pull and I don't have enough taunts for that .
I've also run into people that, in my opinion, attack too quickly. It does get annoying in places like Lost City that have a few ranged mobs (non-casters are the worst), so just because I go in, hit the non-ranged with HotR as I head to the ranged mob. The thing is, the DPS will just start going to town on those non-ranged mobs that I barely have any threat on.
I've actually begun preferring CC on those annoying mobs... such as the axe thrower in Lost City. I can usually silence a caster with my shield, so they aren't as bad.
