Haste affects dots/hots ticks. I find it hard to believe that hit isn't the highest weighted stat for shadowpriests as well. Who cares if you can get an 80k mindblast if you aren't hit capped.

I've checked out shadowpriest.com as Aikouka suggested and elitistjerks.com and the consensus seems to be getting hit capped isn't as important as it used to be.

haste is definitely a plus if it affects dots.

Yeah, I recall reading something along the lines of so much damage tends to come from DoTs, that having to apply a DoT a second time isn't a big deal or they get automatically refreshed anyway. Although, given how I recall hit being close to haste/crit/mastery, I'd personally push for hit just because hit makes your rotation/priority much cleaner.

Things messing up your rotations has me confused a bit right now on my Shaman. Say I'm on Halfus and after using Unleash Elements, he does his roar and I get knocked down. Before I can even use Flame Shock (which is boosted by 30% from Unleash Flame), the Unleash Flame buff wears off. Do I ignore Flame Shock until Unleash Elements comes back off cooldown or keep it up anyway? It is more DPS than just use Earth Shock; however, applying one so far into the UE CD will cause FS to be at only half duration by the time Unleash Elements is off cooldown, so I'll never be in sync... unless I can find another ability to use instead of UE to allow myself to resync them.

Lately, I've just been using Earth Shock instead and allowing myself to resync FS and UE.

elitist jerks is alllll about theoretical maximum and minimum... they'll put out tons of charts and graphs and testing data saying you don't need to be hit capped, and 50% of the people who take those recommendations will wonder why their dps sucks so bad when they reforge away from hit.

hit smooths out your rotation - if you are competent enough to keep your rotation up despite misses, then hit is not as important. if you only look at your keyboard while you're playing, hit is 200x more important than any other stat until you're capped.

reforge hit-> spirit so you gain some mp5

From how it's been for me, I'm used to following:

Skull = 1st target
Red X = 2nd target (3rd target on is assessed before pull)
Blue square = Frost trap
Moon = Sheep
Purple Diamond = MC or Fear or Banish
Star = SAP
Green Triangle = Hex
Orange Circle = ? (Maybe Hibernate?)

Although didn't play WoW for a long time (about a year now) i'm happy to see things have been the same with the target marking.
Remember in Crusade time at Grull's lair on the 1st boss al those nice markings and the pets banishing (i was a warlock)

It's nice to see that we finally get to trade account-bound items across any account within our Battle.Net account. It's a real bummer having to get heirlooms on multiple accounts . I wonder if this also allows sending items to different servers... that would be nice.

They're also nerfing a few heroics and adjusting some of the annoying factors of others. I stopped doing heroics though, so I don't really care :\.

That has no effect while you're still casting though. Only healing specs gain the % regen while casting bonus from their specialization bonuses.

I thought casters still retained some mp5 while casting.

Either way spriests get a talent where spirit translates to hit.

so 50 spirit = 50 hit. so its better to get the spirit when reforging/gems/enchants to get hit.

i guess it more of a bonus when mowing through trash mobs

I'm done running heroics with my main, as well. I still have some rep to finish with the DK, and need VP for (2 specs worth of) gear since I don't raid on my alts. Same for the Priest.. and in a week or two the Warlock... :\

And it's GREAT that account bound will now be Battle.net account, rather than server. :thumbsup:

MMOC did mention heirloom items, so I'm not sure if it will include all account-bound items like the archaeology items. I couldn't imagine why it wouldn't include those though.

I'm actually hoping it will finally let me mail my Big Blizzard Bear from my first account to my second account (within the same Battle.NET account).

I usually forget how they changed mana regen in Cataclysm, but I was reminded last night when I was setting up some of my Shaman's Resto set. Regen is controlled by being in combat or not. While in combat, you effectively have 0% of your regen provided by spirit. The healer talent specializations provide bonuses to allow you to gain a percentage of your OOCombat regen while in combat. Some classes also gain mana back from other things.

Essentially, the regen aspect is pretty much useless as DPS, but it is helpful if you want to dual-spec as a DPS and a healer since chances are your gear will not change much if at all.

Maybe if they offered valor points after the initial random queue, the wait time would be more tolerable.

Here are the heroic changes:

Blackrock Caverns

  • Aura of Arcane Haste now has a clearer visual on the bearer of the aura.
  • Bound Flames in the Karsh Steelbender encounter no longer create Lava Pools when they are killed.
  • The Short Throw ability used by Twilight Sadists has had its range reduced to 10 yards.

Deadmines

  • Ragezone cast by Defias Blood Wizards now only increases damage dealt, no longer increasing damage taken.

Grim Batol

  • Bleeding Wound damge from General Umbriss has been lowered by 20%.
  • Malignant Trogg now moves more slowly.
  • Encumbered damage bonus from Forgemaster Throngus has been reduced by 50%.
  • Invoked Flaming Spirits should prefer non-tank targets to fixate on.
  • The Twilight Flame Patch from the Twilight Drake has been removed.
  • The cooldown portion of the Twisted Arcane buff cast by Azureborne Seers has been removed.

The Stonecore

  • Ground Slam now has a pre-cast visual on the ground in front of Ozruk. In addition, Ground Slam's damage and radius have been reduced.
  • High Priestess Azil's Seismic Shard now has a more obvious warning visual.

Throne of Tides

  • Gilgoblin Hunters' Poisoned Spear direct and periodic damage has been reduced.
  • Gilgoblin Aquamages' Tsunami damage has been reduced.
  • Visual effects during the Lady Naz'jar encounter have been improved for clarity.
  • Blight Beasts summoned during the Ozumat encounter now deal less damage with Aura of Dread.

Vortex Pinnacle

  • The Air Nova ability triggered when a Gust Soldier is killed has had its knockback effect reduced.
  • Altairus now spawns closer to the center of his platform, away from the edge.
  • Temple Adepts and Ministers of Air now wait 2 seconds before starting a spell cast when they are first engaged.

Wailing Caverns

  • The maze section has been removed, and nearby creatures and bosses have been adjusted to compensate.

High Priestess Azil's Seismic Shard now has a more obvious warning visual.

I think this is a good change. sometimes the voidzones push you to a corner where the screen automatically zooms in on your character. you never see it coming.

The changes you mentioned aren't really necessary either. Gilgoblins just required you to be smart about pulls... and pretty much anyone doing anything before you was dead meat... the second pull was pretty much a firing squad.

Some of the changes are making things slightly less annoying. Like stopping the mobs in the last third of VP from casting for a few seconds makes some of the pulls somewhat less annoying as they can be hard to pick up for a class with very few silences.

It also sucks when a flame elemental leashes onto you during the Drahga+Valiona encounter in GB. I've had it leash onto me on the right and on the left was one of the slow-you-down-a-lot puddles... I was effectively trapped .

Some of the damage reductions aren't terribly necessary. I mean, who gets hit by Throngus during Mace phase anyway? The only time you may is if people don't move away from you and Throngus jumps to that player near you. That would not be fun .

I guess the VP trash change makes the pull within that grounding field much easier so I think your right there another decent change.

I may be just too amazing but I never let those flame elementals move an inch when I'm DPSing so i never really noticed they even targeted the tank.

But like the Throngus change now tanks wont be dead meat standing in the Mace Phase. I think heroics are at a good spot right now with some good difficulty for newer PvE players

I know I haven't had a terrible PuG group for quite a while and if there were unskilled players we were able to help them out with some tips or instructions. I know I don't mind we were all there at some point or another but making heroics easier isn't helping them. Kind and understanding people does.

I had a good Heroic PUG last night, and by that I mean it was over quickly. I dropped into a blackrock run that only had the last two bosses left to take down. When I Joined
the group the first thing I noticed was that all the other people in the group were from the same guild. I figured the DPS I was replacing was either kicked or that he left because the group was no good.

They turned out to be a decent group and we ripped through the last two bosses in no time. I had been hoping to have more trash mobs so I could finish off the last two bubbles of Earthen Ring Rep but after 40 minutes in the queue I didn&#8217;t really mind the quick finish.

The worst one is actually the one before the twin faceless. I almost always pop my Guardian of the Ancient Kings before I pull that and tell people to kill the Aquamages first.

All the VP changes seem more like removing or reducing annoyances. Even the knock-back... you essentially had to be right up near the wall to not get knocked off (if you got knocked back toward the edge). Any further out and whoosh... off you go . I guess the Altarius change is to avoid the tank getting knocked by a tornado when they pull him. If he's in the middle, you can pull him from the steps and not be in the way of an unspawned tornado when it spawns.

I actually didn't even know that they could select the tank until they did select me once... I thought they worked off the whole "don't select the tank" mechanic that a lot of things like that do.

I still think you'd have to be pretty geared to not die during Encumbered if you're standing there taking the hits. He does 3x as much damage right now, so in the PTR he will gain 1.5x as much damage. Maybe it should be 2x as much... that seems somewhat deadly, but survivable for a short period of time.

I went to load it up maybe half an hour ago, and the launcher refused to load. Then I tried opening WoW directly, and it refused to load. Both applications sat there only using a few MB of memory the entire time.

After about 3-4 repairs ( why does the WoW repair tool only check one file now? ), the Launcher works, but WoW still will not load. This makes absolutely no sense.

I waited a bit and this is the error that I end up getting:

I changed my DNS to Google's Public DNS and now everything works .

I got this last night as well. I checked the customer service forum and there were 50 posts about the same issue, so I quickly figured out it was a DNS problem with some ISP's. I've got AT&T Uverse service.

It seems strange though... why would WoW refuse to even boot up because of a DNS problem . It was even weirder how Wrath of the Lich King loaded, but Cataclysm wouldn't.
