Blizzard actually does merge realms and/or provide free character transfers from time to time, both for high/low population and Horde/Alliance balance issues. Get people from your server to report the issue to them.
Try reporting it to an in game GM?

I gave it a try now that it's free, I don't think I'll buy it, but at least I got to see how the famous (or infamous of course depending on how you'd see it) "Wow" is. Now that is done, I'm just wondering... is the character creation phase really just limited to a few pre-defined face textures, hair styles, hair colors and a few features like types of horns? There's no sliders for anything like height (or even pre-defined heights), body mass or other character creation aspects and traits?
I know it's an old game, but you'd imagine that a developer like Blizzard would increase the character customization features of their game over a period of... oh... seven years? It's polished, anyhow, I like it and I can understand why it was popular especially considering that it was pretty much the first MMORPG of such polished work and scale when it was released, I'd guess (correct me if I'm wrong). But anyway, I must say that after getting to Level 10 on two characters that I really don't see myself playing that game on a regular basis, but I'll keep it installed, for those occasional rainy days when I really don't feel like playing any of my 100+ installed games...
Okay, before I get flamed into oblivion, I'd like to say I'm a very casual gamer. For some reason, I tend to lose interest in games very easily. Probably because I usually suck but that's not the point.
I've got maybe... two to three months of WoW playing experience in total and that was about five years ago. To put it into perspective, the highest level character I had was a lvl 37 tauren feral druid.
I'm getting curious about the game again and with tons of free time now, I might get back into it since I checked my account and I've got 10 days free for the Lich King trial and then I guess another 7 days for some other promotion.
Anyway, I was wondering if there's anything worthwhile I need to be updated on with the basics of this game or tips. Just treat me as a complete noob. Back when I played, I pretty much soloed my way through quests and stuff. Then the occasional dungeon and no raids. Should I try to get more seriously into the game and grab Lich King/Cataclysm?
Logged in last night for the first time in a month or two. I have recently levelled up a goblin shaman to level 62 and have been hanging out in the outland. Started walking around and picked up a quest to get X items off X mob.
Didn't sound like fun so I logged off. This kind of stuff used to entertain me for hours at a time and now it just isn't fun. Maybe it will be more fun come fall and winter.
Hmm the whole "we lock your account if you log in from a different location" security feature is rather annoying. :\ The only way to get around it is to force a password reset/change.
Im not sure how much has changed for Feral Druids as I have always played Balance Druids, but my guess is that you will find it a LOT different. Without the WotLK and CATA you will be limited to the content you had before but as you only got to level 37 there is still a lot for you to do including another 33 levels, and all the outlands content.
If you are not interested in raiding you will find that getting into a five man dungeon run now is very simple as Blizzard implemented a system where you queue for a random, or if you prefer a specific, dungeon at your level and are put in to the instance when enough people queue.
If you are curious give the new game mechanics a shot.

Yes, I have an authenticator and it happened to me. I attempted to log in from a different location once, and bam! Although, I wonder if they try and take geographic location into account? I am back in NY right now, which puts me about 900 miles away from where I normally log in from.

But Steam has a similar protective feature that requires you to enter a code when you're logging in from a different machine (even when I log into the site on my phone). The thing is... you can just turn that off if you want.
Just had a fellow named Zhang open a battlenet account with an old email that I rarely use. Worth the hassle to call blizz and get it closed?
Meh, my buddy decided he would finally buy Cata (actually the whole game, since he sold his last account). Now we're leveling RaF on Korgath horde...who knows what will come of it. I definitely don't feel the same hook that I had years ago.
On a somewhat related note, it's good to see that Blizz is still one of the best companies out there. RaF totally slipped our minds when he first made his account, but we put in a ticket and they retro-linked us with RaF, with only a few technical issues on the way.
Well I logged on from California on the 9th and Iowa on the 10th, two completely different systems the one in CA being my game rig the one in Iowa a laptop. I didnt have any problem with this at all.
