Wait, garrisons are still relevant?

You're can still get crystals via follower and naval quest. Can also get limited gold quest as well as draenor mats if you decide to pick them up. And it may not be a bad idea to pick up some of those mates if you'll be leveling an alts profession in the future and he hasn't done the Draenor Era stuff yet.

I still hit my garrison once a day on my DH to do the fishing quest.

That +15 skill adds up fast, I just have to be on my game on getting the baits.
Do you have access to nat pagles fishing books?

The pandaria book is 800g and gives 50 points up to L600
I bought 6 of them to get my demon hunter to 600 after fishing up to 300 (1 to 300 isn't too bad to grind)

Then I bought 2 of the draenor books with Nat's coins that I had from taking advantage of the fishing raids from a few weeks back, that got him to 700

Now I can fish up rares for plus 5 skill fairly often.

So there is a faster way to level fishing? What is the trick? Tried to google some of what you are talking about but seems to be a lot of info... care to clarify?

I think I might just be the cheapest person in WoW... and probably outside of the game too. I needed Aethril for my Rogue quest, but strangely enough, wowhead never had great information on what exactly it is. The "Gathered from..." section never listed any nodes, but the comments mentioned that it's an herb and where it's found. Well, at first, I thought, "Let's go check the AH!" I headed on over to Ironforge, and, "10 gold each!? I need 20 of them! Pfft! I ain't spending 200 gold on that." ...keep in mind that I have somewhere around 800,000 gold.

I decided to get one of my herbalists ready, and I noticed that my Monk, which I level alone, has herbalism and skinning. So, I ended up spending a bunch of time on him last night, which was partly due to going to the wrong zone. (I missed the note about Aethril only being in one specific zone.) Of course, I then had to get every single treasure chest and rare NPC that I saw, and I even took the long way to the second quest area in that zone. ...then I had to make sure to unlock all of my class order stuff so I could start doing missions! About four hours later, and I finally had my 20 Aethril.

Although, I forgot how ridiculous Monks can be in combat. With Blizzard removing some of the Rogue's control kit (i.e. making Blind an Outlaw-only ability), I definitely felt like I could barely take more than 2-3 mobs at a time without blowing serious cooldowns. On my Monk, I was taking on 5-6 mobs and only using the 30-45 second cooldown abilities. It helps that the artifact ability is ridiculous in its damage and that it targets multiple enemies!

If fishing is something you have kept up with over the years then you will have rep with nat pagle, in pandaria he sells heirloom fishing books for gold, in draenor at your garrison fishing shack he sells fishing books for His own currency that you fish up.

People are scrambling to determine what ninja nerfs just rolled out that Blizzard is remaining mum on. Some are saying JC socket nerfs, others are saying tank nerfs. Blizzard is apparently flipping numbers around all over the place but as of yet isn't making any comment.

Hey all,

Just to clarify, we recently pushed a hotfix with the changes you are seeing, and this change will be noted in today's Hotfix Notes which will go live soon™.

We made the decision to reduce the stats granted by Legion gems to the following:

  • Rare gems reduced from +250 stats to +150 stats
  • Uncommon gems reduced from +150 stats to +100 stats

Thus far into Legion, gems have not been in the same place as they have been in previous expansions. They were a bit too powerful and this was not the intent, design-wise. We still see sockets as valuable, and they will continue to be so, but prior to this change there has been too much difference between a piece of gear having a socket vs. not having a socket.

This change should address that.

without dropping gold into books, just do the +15 fishing daily at the WoD garrison... that alone plus skill-ups while doing the daily will level you pretty quickly in just 10-15 minutes/day.

I don't know if I can get the books. I got far enough to get the mount and the raft on a couple of toons with Pat in Pandaria, but I didn't fish up enough of the rare fish to be exalted or w/e (best friend?).

I don't mind going up 15 at a time. I also stop and fish nodes when I see them and the current fishing world quests help too, I get a couple of skill ups each time.

Going from 300 to 700 in a minute was well worth the gold to me, going from 600 to 700 by the daily doesn't sound too bad though.

I really wish el's anglin' was still around for tips on getting the artifact fishing pole

Yes, was much better just reading that site in detail rather than trying to bounce between various post under the different wowhead db item entries.

Skimming through today's Q&A, at least we know that everyone considers warlocks the worst class.

I got my Warlock to level 110 and ran some dungeons. Something seemed off as my damage was nowhere close to others and Destruction felt really bad. I looked at the forums and Warlocks everywhere are complaining about how lackluster they are. The only ones I see saying Warlocks are ok are ones in 830+ gear. To get there, you basically get carried throughout normals and heroics. Once there, you are still far behind other people in dps unless you start rolling crits. I will pass for now. If I had planned on raiding, I would probably cancel my sub over this. Yes, it is this bad.

I am leveling a Druid now and my Warlock is shelved until something changes.

sounds right... I've got absolutely no enthusiasm whatsoever to level my warlock, and I've felt that way since the pre-patch.

finally hit 110 on my druid, though... silly me thought I'd have more time to level alts after hitting 110, but there's so much to do it's almost overwhelming right now.

It's usually a case of drawing the short straw when you're the rear loaded dps class. It would be one thing if rear loaded dps did tons more damage than front loaded dps once they got their ramping up in place but historically Blizzard has not tuned those classes to be good enough in those situations to be worth it.

Even when it is however it still sparingly matters as the Patchwerk type encounters that let rear loaded dps shine the most are usually the encounters giving raids the least amount of trouble with progression. The nut busters are the frantic heavy movement target swapping nukedown encounters, the ones the front loaded dps excel at.

Hit 110 yesterday and got bombarded with quests. It sucks because I'm at a point where my quest log is full and I lost motivation to finish a lot of quests since I no longer get XP. Not sure what I will do... wish I could hold more quests for now.

Overall I have got to say the zones they put together for this expansion have been phenomenal in atmosphere, although navigation frequently is a pain in the ass. I'm glad I signed back up.

Yeah highmountain got really annoying. I remember having to go south to do some mining quest and I had to go to wowhead and download coordinates just to fine the damn path to it. What was Blizzard thinking?

Heh, reading this thread is not motivating me to get back into the game after a week or so of not having time after launch.

Check it out for yourself, most fun expansion (so far) for me since wrath

There is a lot to do, but IMO too many people trying to get to that "done" state that panda and wod trained us to expect. Take your own time and enjoy.

I would really recommend leveling a demon hunter first, so much fun, and the glide thing is really useful to get around, that and fel rush can help you get out of bad situations and pulling packs is nice with the self heal when one dies you get an "orb" that heals you to full.

I think the leveling experience would have been a lot more fun with a DM than a Ret, or any class or spec really. Passive movement speed seems gutted and all kinds of terrain is arranged and inclined in an aggravating way such that being able to double jump would let you navigate far more easily. Countless times there were situations when I saw the dot on the map for a quest for instance but had no idea what one narrow path would get me there, most walls just slightly too high for my regular jump to clear.

The zones also seem to be built with demon hunters in mind as far as gliding is concerned. I dare say Highmountain might actually be enjoyable in said case, moving steadily upwards on a mountain for a quest then upon reaching the top and completing a quest chain, gliding back down. Meanwhile mobility is nerfed in order to make DM mobility seem that much more incredible in comparison. Unholy Presence gone, Pursuit of Justice gone, 10% cloak enchants no longer viable, etc. I would like this xpack more if it did not feel at least in part an effort to elevate the new class that much more relative to the other classes not only by giving it the best abilities, but also by bringing everyone elses down a notch.

It's as if Blizzard finally discovered vertical maps, and then went to town in their excitement. I am not liking the zone layouts at all. The Goblin gliders have been a life saver though.
