I must be in the minority to want slower leveling and more challenging quests and world mobs...

The game is ridiculously easy right now. Really hoping that changes.

Leveling content is something you do once per character. It's nearly wasted development time to make it take longer than necessary. You're welcome to take it slow and role play with every random NPC in the game. Some of us just want to get it over with asap so that we can get to what we enjoy doing, end game content.

In vanilla you'd have a point. But now so much of the game development is based on things to do while at max level, they have no incentive to delay the time it takes you to get there.

Although they did go and nerf XP for an area once you've outleveled it, so don't skip any zones starting in BC and beyond and you'll have the slower pace.

i don't

yeah i see your point on leveling guys but i'm referring not just to leveling but to more challenge in questing and world mobs as well...for example the new 90 stuff in blasted lands I absolutely melt through at 525 ilvl as a warrior. I mean I think I could collect half the 90+ regular mobs in the zone and kill them all in 4 secs. And i've heard timeless isles is half as difficult now as well. Makes me nervous.

What you're describing is the fact that since patch 6.0.2., the game is balanced around level 100 mobs and not level 90. Everything is going to be a little wonky for now.

ilvl 525 is waaay above what world zones are tuned for, questing blues (470ish) should be the top end for world zones. Isle is tougher than a leveling zone, but it's basically the zone after leveling.

It should be easy in your gear, if it isn't, there's non way a properly geared toon could do it. Remember, the rewards from that zone are basically 496.

Take a frsh dinged char with a 450 ilevel then do the blasted land chain and tell me how easy it is.

And metallica will be the blizzcon band this year.

What I do know is content now seems easier than ever before...i'll give them the benefit of the doubt and assume it's work in progress prior to WoD but MAN i hope it changes.

I did it on my 390-ish ilvl rogue (before the quest rewards) with Cata Dragonsoul LFR gear and did it no problem. The squish they did has made things a bit wonky. It was definitely a bit harder on the PTR with the 483 ilvl gear than made it live and I don't know why.

What you don't realize is the gear inflation blizz has done to the game. We're seeing 3 raid tiers now per expansion with a considerable inherent power scaling between them. We are far gone from tier 1. And tier 2 being decent linear upgrades over what you were expected to have.

Having recently gonne through panda land with a guy at 530 and another below 400, the power scaling with gear now is a tremendous factor.

anyone know if there's a good guide to the new UBRS out there?

tried zoning in and winging it as a healer, but my group wiped three times due to my own incompetence :/

First time we took 2 solid DPS (destro lock and ele shaman), a holy priest, a boomkin (who could also back-up heal), and my guardian bear. It wasn't that bad really, we had 3 wipes but they were due to me being overzealous with trash pulls.

I agree completely. As a personal challenge I got rid of all heirlooms and stopped using flying mounts except where necessary and the game became much better. While it can get get annoying on occasion, its nice to actually go through content to get to other content. The game feels richer. I realized that the game felt the most stale to me when I was hopping from quest giver to quest target and vice versus with my flying mount. When the majority of the game becomes flyover country it becomes difficult to feel invested.

I realize that this isn't a popular idea, but I would suggest that Blizzard ban flying mounts except where quests require it. Flying was a great concept early on, but in hindsight I think it hurts more than helps. It's not like it used to be where we had to travel to dungeon entrances and whatnot. Lack of flying improves PVP by getting rid of sniping from above and it impedes snatch and grab mining/herb.

With the fastest mounts the world can be tranverse in a fraction of the time as it use to be when we relied on drunkin taxis. Due to this, the world feels much smaller than it used to. I'm sure this can be seen as a bit of hyperbole, but thats my take.

That's ridiculous. Don't like flying and heirlooms? Don't use them. I've leveled a couple characters that way. But sometimes I just want to get to 90 as quickly as possible, and don't need to see the same quest for the 5th time.

After the first 90 i was completly sick of pandaria, worst leveling experience in the game, i finished the second one after the exp squish with dungeons only

So I rerolled on Zul'jin a couple weeks ago, my priest is in the mid 60s now and my rogue is 41-42 or something.

Holy crap I forgot how awesome Nagrand is. Absolutely love that zone. I only actually leveled 2-3 of my 90s through there because after that there were way too many people ganking. It's been a lot of fun going back through some of those quests, and now that the Nessingwary ones are 12 kills per instead of 30, seems to flow a bit better too!

If I had one wish, it would be that it was easier to stop and start XP gain. Having to go to the capital and pay to stop and start XP sucks.

I'd like it if I could just click a button to turn it on or off, that way when I get to a zone or questline I like, I can turn off XP and actually play through and enjoy it, then easily turn XP back on when I'm done.

Alternatively, it'd be neat if they implemented a system where you could toggle level scaling so that your level would scale down to whatever you were fighting and you would still gain xp from quests and kills while scaled down.

That'd be alright as well. You could scale down and still have a challenge doing old content, help guildies through quests without plowing through at max level, etc. I seem to recall EQ2 had a feature like that, where you could scale down to your group members level.

FFXIV has something similar as well, with the random dungeon queue giving you a chance to be placed in any dungeons from the newbie starting ones to ones actually appropriate for your level, and your class level gets adjusted automatically when you zone in.

If they implemented that, I'd definitely go back and do old quest lines with my maxed out characters.

Blizz is about to transfer the oceanic servers to a new farm in oz. As part of this those playing from down under will be able to transfer to those servers and have their character transfer fee refunded.

Mmoc has a listing of some lfr gear up. Couple things I found interesting; it has a set bonus so guessing they just renamed it from normal and above to keep from farming all difficulties to get your total set, and the stat values are significantly higher than the top current gear so looks like we're already going back to a rapid rate of gear scaling.

This is necessary to give a feeling of power gains between tiers. I expect it's the way of the future, with a squish after each xpack (maybe 2).

I agree, however it greatly reminds me of cata, and wrath to a lesser extent, where they made significant boost to stat levels between expansions to make corrections mostly resulting from the stat boost inserted with BC.
