What's the advantage of assigning a follower to a building? Do you get more/better stuff from this?

more items per work order and bonus items like sorcerers airs and whatnot

Hmmm nice...i'm not that far in the expansion and this Stronghold stuff is not that intuitive. It's quite simple but I feel there's another layer to it that I don't fully understand...

I'm really early in though and i'm finishing Gorgrond area now (trying to complete every single areas before moving on even if I out level them) and only have like 10 followers.

I have the Lumber mill, the Mine, the Herb garden, the Enchanter's and the Tailor at level 2, the rest at level 1. My Stronghold is at level 2...

I need more plot spaces because there's some buildings i'd like to have but can't...I guess my Stronghold will level later on when I do a specific quest like I did to get it to level 2?

Once you hit 100 you'll get a really simple quest to level your garrison to Lvl 3. Assuming you have the resources you pretty much just hit the upgrade button and Bam! Quest complete and Level 3 garrison. That will give you more plots to build on.

Cool thanks! I'm currently level 96 and finishing gorgrond. Gonna hit my 3rd area soon and continue on. Like in Pandaria, i'll complete every zones and quests since they're fun to do and the zones are all unique and well done.

That's not entirely true. You'll get a 50% + (Follower_Level - 90) * 5% chance to gain an extra item from your work order.

Also, until 6.1, a follower only has to be in the building when you pick up the work orders to gain the benefit. In the 6.1 PTR patch notes, it states that the game will check every 4 hours as to whether you get the benefit.

Got a 655 ring from my first highmaul mission on my mage. Kind of a bummer since I had the 640 quest ring from the legendary chain (haven't done the heroics yet to get the 680) and then a 640 crit/mastery (perfect stat allocation). Could have used just about any other slot. Oh well. Replaced the quest one for now, and will switch again once I get the 680.

Apparently I need to start doing missions in the morning and at night again -- at least on my fresh 100s. I've only been doing evening and it's taking FOREVER to get followers upgraded. For my 2 alts, probably won't have them all to 645 until after 6.1. My priest has all but 5 at 645 -- 2 @ 637 and 3 that are recent recruits that aren't leveled to 100 yet -- plus a few 645s deactivated. I've got the upgrade pieces and armor/weapon sets to bump them all to 645 as soon as I visit my bank. Just going to stockpile upgrade items at that point and upgrade as needed once the BRF missions show up.

The other important part of this is that starting with 6.1, your followers will earn XP while assigned for work orders. Currently you have to take them off the building to run missions to level them up.

I don't think it's actually a quest. If you go to your architect table, you should see the option to upgrade your main garrison building. The cost is 2000 resources and 5000g.

I'm pretty sure there is a quest involved...? You get a quest from someone in your garrison to upgrade it to level 3.

Baros Alexston gives it for Alliance. He's right beside the architect table.

Yes... and I provided clarification for when a level 96 wonders why he's not getting the bonus item that someone said he would since he most likely does not have a level 100 follower assigned.

Well, in 6.1 there are new items that allow you to freely craft hexweave cloth or truesteel ingots or whatever else your profession CD is. However, each craft requires a primal spirit in addition to the normal mats. I'm hoping that each craft only gives 1 item -- for example, if you're at 199/200 hexweave cloth for your upgrade and don't want to wait. If it gives the full 10 that a 700 profession gives, that's going to suck all the rest of the profit out of the remaining viable professions.

With the 4 toons I'm playing this expac, I'm running tailoring/enchant, BS/JC, JC/enchant, and JC/enchant. Enchanting is good for ~550g/day between the daily CD and work orders after factoring in cost of mats and the AH cut -- plus 360g per drop in LFR that I don't need. JCing is good for ~240g/day after mats cost for the daily quest, plus an additional 250-275g/day after mats cost by crafting and selling the +50 gems. Tailoring and blacksmithing I've been using my CD's for gear on my toons and will likely continue to do so.

With 6.1 adding rush orders, the savage blood transmutes, and the trapping changes already in (SOOOOOOO easy to keep a l3 barn stocked), plus the limit to 3 crafted pieces per toon .... it's as if they weren't happy with how worthless most profs already were and decided to trivialize them even more.

I had been just listing things on the AH once a week or so, but since the 6.1 PTR went up I've been dumping stuff daily. Already seeing movement on prices based on what's on the PTR, and you just don't know what they're going to do from day to day.

I've got one of those 651 weapons from followers. All the weapons I've received though have been staves, no one handed and no off hands. Kinda sucks like that.

Technically 2H > MH+OH for casters because it's a single upgrade. Once you have the same ilvl for 2H and both MH and OH there's no difference in dps.

The only reason MH+OH was desirable in the past was the OH enchant.

All things being equal, which is why I didn't mention stats. The way he said it sounded like staves only was a problem. Without more information (he might have a higher ilvl OH waiting), that's incorrect.

Regardless, I think you can only get staves from the follower token thingie (and invasions). I have opened about a dozen, all staves though no upgraded ones. Had to get my weapon from pvp, heroic bosses are being stingy with caster weapons. Think we got our first drop last night and it was a wand so I passed. My current OH is a 640 junker.

ahh yea all things equal

the 2 staves in HM are pretty crap for a lot of specs but then again a lot of the gear in there has crap for stats

and yes its only staves from the follower things

T5 is my favorite warlock set, i really hate the looks of anything past TBC, it's like they fired all of their designers, my warrior will rock t1 or t6, hunter is always on t1, druid will be on t4 and rogue on t2

It maybe weird but one of the things I love since the latest expansions is you can solo farm most raids and collect the tier sets, really fun!

the Ulduar set for locks is also excellent, but yes most of the later sets were crap for many classes
