Those crap blues I get all the time from salvage that sell for 2-4g give 9-12 dust or possibly one of those yellow shards. At one point I checked and I was money ahead to sell WoD greens and buy dust rather than DE those greens.
Yep, that's exactly what I do. Back in the day, any BoE went to get disenchanted (unless it could be used or sold for a lot), but the return on dusts for greens is just so freakin' bad that it's not worth it. Right now, I always separate all of the salvage transmog blues (the stuff that only sells for 2-5g) and the blues that only sell for 10-12g (mission rewards like necks and bracers). I have two accounts, so I have it setup to have an enchanting hut available on each account.
I'll usually collect about 10 items on each character, and then make the rounds disenchanting it all. Frankly, dust is not a problem at all; however, fur is starting to become an issue. I might just go kill a crap ton of Saberon guys as they drop it in droves.
(tbh, I think I'm probably headed towards a break soon... haven't left my Garrison on any character in like 2-3 weeks not counting LFR).
I feel your pain. I usually log in prior to leaving for work where all I do is setup my missions for the day. That's pretty quick at about 15-20 minutes for all 8 or so characters. It also gets faster as characters get more established so there isn't so much min/maxing in regard to follower EXP or having to boost follower ilevel for missions. I had to do that on two characters this morning as both have started Highmaul.
However, my post-work WoW times are probably the worst. It takes nearly two hours to do all of my garrison stuff across all of my characters, and it's so mind numbing! The problem is that you just need so flippin' much crafting items that you need to keep on top of gathering. I try to make things quicker by only allowing certain characters to use the Mine, but it still takes time. Frankly, I'm a little sad that they're fixing the Miner's Coffee stacking bug. My rogue can run around at 245% speed while stealthed and using Sprint!
Anyway... after I do the garrison stuff, I don't even want to play anymore. I just log off and go watch TV.
