<---prot paladin in BC. Shattered halls was simple, and you missed the real PITA instance from that xpack, Shadow Labs. However, I think they removed a ton of mobs from there and other stuff that made it easy (removed a guy that feared).
Shattered Halls wasn't bad as long as you had good CC. The only problem is that you needed mostly
repeatable CC, which meant that Rogues were largely ignored. Although, I
highly doubt that you had an easy time just because you were a Paladin. Unless you already had good gear, you'd still take a ton of damage from the 5-6 mob pulls... unless you used CC, which already made the dungeon easier for most tanks.
Forge of Souls and Halls of Reflection... Grim Batol and Stonecore could be interesting.
Eh, out of those, I think Halls of Reflection was the only real difficult one because every fight was a gauntlet style encounter! Those other dungeons were only hard because dummies are too lazy to execute mechanics properly. Jump! Move out of the way! Get behind a rock! Don't purge that buff!
The timewalking could be fun, hopefully they'll be adequately challenging. Facerolling 5-mans is fun, but it's nice to have to use some tactics sometimes as well.
The problem is that people don't seem to care about tactics so much as getting a reward, and that's why I don't see these being popular for the more casual crowd. It was interesting talking with a coworker that's playing D&D Online, and he was talking about this really hard quest that he was doing. He said that it was pretty hard even for its recommended level, but even though he failed the first time, he felt
really good when he finally finished it.
I think people are getting too used to an empty sense of accomplishment that we almost
expect it anymore. Hell, I don't even raid anymore (including LFR), and I have almost all of my characters between ilevel 640-650. I think only
one of them has any crafted gear too. Did I put in any effort for that? Well... I click on a Start Mission button; does that count?
