completed Chapter III of the legendary ring request last night thanks to some good luck in BRF (had two bosses drop 27 runes)... might actually have a shot at finishing it before Legion.

is the solo quest with Garona as bad as wowhead is making it out to be? that's the one thing I'm dreading; I ended up giving up on the MoP legendary cloak because I could never complete the solo scenario on my shaman. I'll be doing this one on my ret/prot pally.

The changes to Moonkin I really like... it was not overly complex before, but a lot more straightforward now.

That said, I tried looking for the action camera setting and did not find it. I also don't see a major difference in the nameplates (maybe been too long since I played...).

Are all the main changes already in place that will take place with Legion? Seems like some are there and some are not. I noticed some of my gathering mats are soulbound that were not before and etc... can't really tell if everything is in place though.

Have to use console commands to enable the action camera.

Well, you missed out on cashing them in on bags of gold. Now your best bet is buying whatever is useful/cheapest on the trading post. Which one you go with is up to you.

The only bad thing with the ring quest is the RNG of the raid drops, nothing else comes close.

I nearly reached throwing-my-keyboard-across-the-room levels of frustration over the alarms constantly getting sounded by orcs who are like 500' away before giving up for the night.

going to try the cross-realm invite trick tomorrow... tbh, I just don't get it -- none of the youtube videos I've watched seemed to experience the shitty bugs I'm getting like mobs on the complete other side of the zone spotting me (and Garona just standing there hanging out after killing a mob so that she gets spotted)

probably made infinitely more frustrating by the fact that I'm used to playing a rogue and stealth just doesn't work like this anywhere else in the game.

Maybe it is extra buggy now with the new patch. The quest is definately a pain in the ass. Over 3-4 characters I don't think I ever did it cleanly the first go through. The trick is to send Garona in at extreme range you can click her attack button. Watch the pats carefully and it just takes the right timing, do it as the patrol mob is at its furthest away from the target. And kill anyone near your path. The first oh, 8-10 guys as you go in have to die.

Go to the left after the first bend to get the general dude first. Then back up the hill towards the right. You only have to get to the area with barrels to hide behind to listen in. Be very careful in that area though, couple of mobs that are not too visible.

I've been trying to do research to see if professions matter for Legion. Otherwise, I'll be converting all my guys to Inscription/Tailoring or Alchemy/Inscription. I did a few test runs and it takes 5 minutes to cycle through the herb garden, garrison missions and profession buildings per character. Lots of money to be made for very little time spent.

Stupid tomes. I remember clearing HFC only to be one short. had to wait a whole other week. Then they wanted me to kill the final boss in the game. Then by the time Archimonde and all his generals were dead at my feet they gave me the damn ring to fight Archimonde and all his generals. Asshats.

They sell to vendors and bags sell well on the AH. Inscription making card of omens and vendoring nets 8g per paint. Alchemist making philosoper's stone and vendoring nets 4g per catalyst. Bags sell for 1000g per, so 10 gold per hexweave.

Ah, right. My warlock is enchant/tailor, i may stockpile for leveling his crafting. Ways to go though, i still gain XP from frostweave

So since I quit playing and just recently coming back... looks like I might have to earn some abilities vs just gaining them through leveling? Is this true for all characters? (I'm Ret pally)

Well, had a friend drag me into trying out this game again. I literally haven't played it since 2011 for a month when Cataclysm came out. I played it for a month when WotLK came out before that, and 2 months for BC before that. Basically every time I've played I get to max level and get bored with the end content grind. That and it seemed that after I got max level and used to my toon, Blizzard would do some massive game changing mechanic nerf to whatever I was playing and make it un-fun to play anymore. Which usually meant I would promptly quit the game.

Not sure if the game will end up the same way for me again or not, but since I have a few friends playing I am willing to give it a try. Strangely I only had to purchase legion for my account and it automatically gave me all the previous expansions without paying for them.

Sounds like a great way to spend a week to me!! I love the changes - both that they did it and that I have to relearn. Awesome.

I think that was true as you leveled through Draenor, but i believe they removed those ability buffs with 7.0. AFAIK you just level or talent into abilities. I have ret pal, what makes you think this?

If you boost a character blizz slowly introduces talents to you over the course of some quests instead of just dumping everything onto you. At least this is the way the 90 boost worked.

that's how the 90 boost worked, but the 100 boost just dumps you in a level 3 garrison with a full set of 640 gear and all your abilities.

That's right, i forgot about the 90 boost. I wasted mine on a dwarf monk on some random server *rollseyes*

Is 100 boost only for preorders?

I was looking around and it looks like the current face of WoW (Watcher aka Ion Hazzikostas) was the guild leader of Elitist Jerks. If you remember, that was the guild that had the theorycrafting website/forums which ended up failing horribly because of bad management. It's scary to think that this guy has some influence on how WoW is designed given his poor track record.
