Our raid designates "areas" for people to stand. I am a holy pally, so myself and another holy pally are off on the left side right near the stairs so that we never have to move from MT healing. XT hits hard, but its not difficult to anticipate his swings and allow your heals to pop just after a hit. For pallies, don't worry about overhealing in this fight. During the heart phase, run in and melee the heart with wisdom up. I usually regen all of my mana during heart.

Also, we chain heart phases, which makes things easier. We are a bit melee heavy, so all the melee stays on the heart full time. Ranged has designated piles they AOE. We go from one heart phase to the next. It really makes it pretty easy of a fight when you can do this.

That said, we are working on mimiron in my 10 man group. He is a total gear/skill check imo. Keeping the MT up during the plasma is rough. 10 man, it hits for 20k every second for 6 seconds. We run 2 holy pally, 1 resto shaman in terms of healers. For tanks we have a prot pally and feral druid. Resistance gear doesn't help at all, as the plasma is considered frostfire.

I haven't played this game in a while and I had a few questions for the regulars. I keep myself fairly busy during the week so I wouldn't have time for raiding but I'm thinking about starting up again just for the ocassional Saturday morning/afternoon play and Sunday.

I have two level 70 characters (horde lock and alliance rogue) and I was wondering a few things:

- Where's the best place to start leveling?
- When can I expect to hit 80 at this rate of play? (I know it's slow, but I've heard it is much like regular WoW -> BC in time as the rate of experience and items went up significantly)
- Do any guilds raid at these times? I loved raiding (I got some tier 5 on the lock, and some ZA gear) but I don't want to be raiding for hours every night.
- Any suggestions on talent leveling builds? I played my lock a lot, but my rogue I got to 70 and quit playing it pretty much and I've forgotten much of the talents.

Thanks in advance.

I always preferred Borean Tundra over Howling Fjord, but I usually do them both.

It'll probably take a month at a slow pace.

There are usually PUGs on the weekends as most guilds I've seen like to raid on "work nights", so most won't raid on the weekends like that. You may be able to find one somewhere on your server.

I'm leveling as mutilate on my rogue (51/15/5) and I leveled as Affliction on my Warlock, but now I'm Feltard spec. Feltard seems to work pretty well too and would probably be fine... the only problem I have is that I'm not really mana efficient as Haunt and Siphon Life really help to keep your HP up after Life Tapping.

I'd level the lock first...IMO ranged dps is generally prefered over melee.

What Doc said, although it's not so much "preferred" as "there's 5x as many melee dps players as there are ranged, so level a ranged and you'll be competing with less people for your DPS spot".

Why is there so much more melee than ranged dps? Before I quit playing a year or so ago, it was the complete reverse...

This doesn't really bother me and I fail to understand how it bothers anyone at all to be honest. I understand that you may blow through 'normal' Heroic but I don't see a point in complaining until some ridiculous % of guilds are actually blowing through the hard modes. I'm in a guild of mostly horrible players but still like having the opportunity to do one large raid together instead of 2-3 10 mans.

Sure I could go to another guild of much better players without issue but since I like the idea of being in a guild where I show up when I want to show up it's a trade off I'm willing to live with.

Ret paladins got buffed, a new class (who cannot spec for ranged dps) got added, enhancement shaman got buffed, fury/arms warriors got PvE buffed, feral druids got buffed - as compared to a year ago in TBC.

That's why there's so much more melee.

By comparison, ranged is about where it was then.

Probably the 10,000,000 DK's that are running around.

I agree with this. I'm in the second best horde guild on my server, and I'm all for making the non-hard modes pretty easy. Everyone deserves to see the content at least. Hard modes should make people cry though, and should only be completed by 2-3 guilds per server.

Theres a difference between being able to kill a boss in hard mode, and having to exploit game mechanics to kill it. ie Hodir and IC

The only reason guilds are "exploiting" these hard mode encounters is because they want to be the first to do it even though it wasn't intended to be done yet. The intent wasn't to have guilds clearing hard modes in 3 weeks. Blizzard probably did this to force guilds to clear content and do some gearing up before they were able to complete the hard modes. As always, there are always guilds out there that will use the balls to the wall approach and do anything/everything to get it done. You can't blame them, and you can't blame blizzard. There is no way for blizz to test every possible thing that player could do to avoid a game mechanic (i.e. tank hearthing from steelbreaker).

Well we've been wiping on Yoggy for the past 2 raid nights. Like the strats we read, we send the melee into the portal to take care of the brain, but I don't think they're doing enough dps 'cause after 2 portals, they come out insane and wipes the raid. On the tentacles we're trying to put just a tank on each crusher and have the range focus dps on the corrupters and constricters when people get snatched up. Going again tonight. For people who killed Yoggy, how do you guys do P2?

Personally I recharge my sanity at the green beams when I see it around 70%, everybody should know this. If not, I'm just raiding w/ fails...

I haven't gotten to fight Yogg on 25 man yet, but on 10 man, affliction locks are KILLER in the portals. Tab around and throw a single corruption on everything and you can solo it all in about 15 seconds.

You can avoid going insane entirely in the portal by facing away from the skull things that shoot the lightning at you. That is how you do it without Freya's sanity wells.

You make it sound like it's hard to kill shit as a warlock in PVP when you're standing behind a bunch of other people casting spells on the opposing faction. Yet, you didn't even do the achievements for Children's Week properly, so how do you honestly have the room to talk that they're not hard?
[/quote]

WTF do you mean i didnt do it properly, I caped/returned all ths shit needed.

and sorry killing a warlock with no PVP gear takes about 5 seconds for any physicial damage dealing class, slightly longer for mages because they have to cast. Standing in the back is a great idea untill someone just runs through all the people in front of you and 3 shots you

the naxx gear i got had decent hit, not great and i still had to gem a bit. with the uld stuff i'm getting (and now that suppression affects all schools) I'm having to do a serious de-hit gemming, which is always good

Well another week, another crappy Oracle Egg....did Children's week, and still no damn Mr Pinchy, I swear he is no longer on the server. Pne of my guildies fished up the turtle mount. It took me about 3 hours of BG's last night to get them all, WSG was the pain, people were just being typical flag whores, I was glad once I got all the childrens stuff so I could drop the kid and stealth, not very useful for a rogue with a pet.

Melee should only need to refresh their sanity once, if at all, if they're turning their backs to the skulls like they should be. There's not really any excuse for going insane in this fight with the sanity wells right there. Have replacements ready to go into the brain portals in case a melee ends up constricted or brain-linked during a portal spawn.

This has to be one of the most annoying fights to wipe to due to the length of the encounter, and how many things can go wrong.

On the bright side, he drops this amazingly terrible cape. Yay for getting KT loot of Yogg.
