I did Ahune last night around 3AM CST. I didn't know I wasn't supposed to DPS him until the core came out. I got him to almost 30% solo before he changed phase.

I tried out the new system today and it worked well. I'd like to get the 232 cloak on a few of my chars that are still using the crafted 200 or the EoV 213 cloaks. I wouldn't mind getting the scythe on my Mage, boomkin and priest. My shaman has the old level 70 version.

In a way it's kind of amusing because most of the new weapons don't even look nearly as good as that scythe.

It is fine to attack it as ranged as long as the little guys aren't overunning you. I wouldn't do it as melee since you'll get knocked around. He takes reduced damage when he's not a core though.

So with the new dungeon finder system of fighting holiday bosses, does it take you straight to the boss room and lets you fight it immediately or does it just drop you at the beginning of the instance it's in and you have to fight to get to it?

This was the first time I've used it and it took us straight there. I suppose it might be different depending on what boss, but this time was straight to the guy.

Best part is if you just want cloak from what I understand you can keep queueing and get a cloak drop without screwing anyones drop of the bag goodies, much better than before where trying to figure if everyone had the quest before starting.

I would say he was pretty easy, considering I had no idea what I was doing and we killed him without issue.

What all does the bag of goodies drop? Is there some sort of mount with it?

Uh, what? The way I'm reading it is that all of the best gear is available in either 10 or 25, you just get more of it in 25. 10 is no longer second best. It's just the best.

That's good for me, since I only know about 9 people I want to raid with.

The bag drops the special stuff... so either of the two pets or the scythe. You also get two frosties, so it's pretty much the easiest way to get 2 frosties until the event is over.

I think the tank actually tried to tank Ahune... and ended up dying from it lol.

You also get 2x frost badges from killing Ahune, so with the bag, it's 4x badges each day which is pretty decent. Someone correct me if I'm wrong heh.

The adds don't follow normal aggro tables, either, so having a tank is somewhat pointless in that fight. Basically, clothies have to be really careful not to draw the adds ire. I'm not sure exactly how it works with aggro, but I know it's not a normal fight as far as tanks are concerned. They definitely will go everywhere.

EDIT: I guess when I said earlier that all was needed was to tank the adds, I'm just stupid. Wrong wording.

You are correct. Easy x4 frosts per day for the next 2 weeks.

And I got the scythe on my Warlock, who already has a better weapon . I could use it on my poorly geared Boomkin heh.

That sounds right, because the strategies I read was to use very low threat healing and only heal when absolutely necessary. When I healed earlier, almost every heal pulled aggro.

I hope the 25% buff goes out today, my guild is going to try to progress a bit tonight. We don't need the extra, but it obviously helps. I'm guessing if we don't see it today, then it will definitely be next week.

I can just use HudMap and turn off the feature that shows where everyone else is and it'll be similar enough to AVR with that .

I'm kind of hoping the 25% buff doesn't go out today, I'd like to be 9/12 heroics without it, may not seem impressive since we are getting a 20% buff already, but for the casual guild I'm in (Tuesdays and Thursdays 7-11 EST) I like to think it's somewhat good
