This change comes from all the trolls on the forums. WoW has honestly become World of Trollcraft. The forums are plagued with people who spent hours a day flaming other people. Even trade chat is now full of people trolling.

my ignore list had something like 300 people on it. RealID is still one of the stupidest ideas ive ever seen and yes if it goes live ill no longer be giving blizz money

You didn't even read the link, which explains your response. The link showed characters IN GAME and showed their real names. Not the forums. Basically - right now - addons can grab your real life info from your RealID. Again this is IN-GAME right now, already turned on by default.

It's too bad that once this goes through I will be canceling my subscription. I really did like WoW a lot, it's really pathetic that Activision is destroying a good company (Blizzard) with their crap tactics to grab at any chance of money they can.

Apparently you can opt out of RealID and have it blocked from add-ons accessing it by enabling parental controls on your account, but you have to save the e-mail sent out to the parent account or you can never access the page again. It's frigging regarded that they auto-signed everybody onto this bullsh!t, but I went through the parental settings steps just to get it stripped from my account info.

They could have gotten rid of most of the forum trolling by making it link all your chars to the char you are posting under.

None of these changes will have any impact to in game chat channel trolling.

yea TBH ill prob play a month or so in cata simply to get to 85 on a toon and see the changes to the world. I wish i would have gotten a beta invite as that would have solved that issue

I've been burning through xbox 360 games since canceling my account last month... Dragon Age: Origins, Mass Effect/ME2, Fable 2.

tried Fallout 3 because it seems like everyone and their mother loved it, but I couldn't deal with it. too FPS-y; felt like every time I'd be out in the wild, I'd start getting shot up by people a mile away and there wasn't a damned thing I could do about it but run away because I'd be dead by the time I figured out where they were.

DA:O is way better on the PC, but I don't have an air conditioner in the room where my desktop is, so there's no way I'm turning it on. heh.




I think there are way better ways to reduce forum trolling that don't involve disclosing personal data. I'm pretty careful with where I use my real, full name on the internet and keep an eye on the top results turned up by a google search. it's just not something I want to have to worry about... what if I tell my boss I can't cover an overnight shift because of family issues and then a post pops up on google by me asking strat questions in R&D over last night's raid?

I'm sure trolling will be reduced, but it's sorta like cutting off your nose to spite your face. along with the trolls, you're also losing legions of helpful and constructive posters. I can't think of the last thing I've seen online that's received such near-universal condemnation.

They send you an email letting you know they've attached the beta entry to your battle.net account. They don't actually send you an invite or a code or anything.

Well, I got one saying I was invited and a link to download the client.

I am in the Cata beta. Any email they send you will link to have you log in your Battle.net account and upgrade your account to beta. No need to even follow the link in the email. If the email tells you to go someplace else, don't click it.

You can download the beta client from the home page in battle.net so no need to go to any other site. When I saw the email I was warry. So I made sure to not click anything and I manually went to battle.net and logged in and my account was indeed upgraded.

That is what it says. It is just a link to battle.net. It informs me I have to update to the client. I've only read it on my phone, but I'll check my bnet account when I get home.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if they hand out beta invites to long-time subs who are trying to cancel. For some reason, I want an invite even though I have absolutely no intention of even downloading the client. I don't like the idea of having everything spoiled before it's finalized, I just assume wait until the final shipping product to experience the new world.

All that really does is show how much of a dick Kotick is and why I don't think a single fan actually likes him. He's purely a businessman and does not care about the fact that he works in the gaming industry, which is a pretty passionate area.

your healers can get behind the block and still heal.. debuff refreshes every 6 seconds, so if your debuff timber is between 3-8 seconds you can still be out and healing. also, you can just LoS the boss but still be in LoS of the tank if the ice block is placed correctly

Most people I've seen tend to stick behind it and it's not as easy to LoS her and not be out of the tank's sight as it was on a fight like Flamegor (back in BWL)... mostly because of her large size. Heck, when she's doing the big ol' cold wave and I'm trying to reset my stacks at the same time, I find it a pain to try to LoS myself unless I'm directly behind a block... I guess it's because it's not easy to pinpoint her exact center to define how your angle will have to change.
