There are some quests that provide some nice upgrades and you can also run normal instances for reputation as well. You'll most likely want to run 80 instances for Kirin Tor reputation. You can also craft some gear such as the titansteel spellblade.

Oh the joy of running heroics with pugs. Sometimes you get pros, sometimes you get noobs. Been real bored lately, so I've switched 3 pets in a week. Each time I would take it to 80 by running heroics. Some of these people have zero idea on how to tank or heal. Sigh...

Also ran some VoA 25 on my druid alt. Been seeing a lot of fails there too.

Ironbound/Rusted Proto-Drake Achievement Rewards removed in Patch 3.2

Quote from Blizzard staff
Pet scaling
We think it's probably time to let pets scale, to some extent, with resilience and spell pen.
The way pets scale from the master's stats was implemented (on our side) in a slightly clunky way which made it difficult to add additional stats. In BC, it took some effort to kill a pet so it wasn't a burning problem for us. In LK, we have bumped up pet health a few times, but we are thinking now that the balance will never work right without some crit mitigation. Pets will never scale right with gear as long as the master improves in ways that don't benefit the pet.We have a new way to let pets scale, and assuming it works, we should be able to give the pets scale with all relevant stats from the master, from hit to haste to crit. Some things will need to scale at 100%, since it's silly to have your pet inherit part of your +hit.
No promises until you actually see it live, but that's what we are thinking at the moment. (Source)

Formulas changes
We change a lot of numbers every expansion. You should not assume that everything stays the same when we raise the level cap. Some formulae will still work with accepted numbers, but you may want to re-test others.
We generally support the players working to figure out exactly how everything works. That has been a big part of the WoW community since the inception. We think it takes some of the magic out of the game when everything is completely laid bare. However, sometimes the formulae we use are so arcane that we feel like it is appropriate to give the theorycrafters a peek behind the curtain. We did so with armor penetration and the new Arena reating calculations recently, and now with rage. In this case some players were assuming that rage generation was stealth nerfed recently so we wanted to clearly set the record straight. (Source)

Druid (3.1 Skills List / 3.1 Talent + Glyph Calc.)
Resto druids in Arenas
While we were succesful getting Resto druids into tree form in Arena, we were a little too succesful. We're not sure it's fun for either the druid or the people trying to kill the druid to be locked in tree form all the time. This change will hopefully make the fights a little more dynamic. (Source)

Paladin (3.1 Skills List / 3.1 Talent + Glyph Calc.)
Single target healing
An apparent "double standard" exists because the game has far fewer healing specs than damage specs. Most 25-player raids are going to have a diversity of healers so it's okay in our minds for them to have more discrete niches. While there are many fights where single-target damage is not particularly useful, there are very, very few fights that are not tanked, and therefore where single-target healing is not particularly useful. Besides, while the paladin niche may be single-target healing, when I look at raid stats, nearly all of them are managing to heal people besides the MT. I've run 10-player raids with 2 paladin healers plenty of times. It works fine. (Source)

Rogue (3.1 Skills List / 3.1 Talent + Glyph Calc.)
AoE Ability added to Rogues in WotLK
Most trash pulls in Naxx used AE almost exlcusively. Being a single-target damage-dealer, and one with combo points no less, felt just terrible. Yeah, I know "nobody cares about trash." Except they do. Rogues (and at the time other specs with sub-par AE dps) wondered why anyone would want to bring them when the raid leader could speed up the whole raid by bringing someone who could AE. There are adds on some of the boss fights too and we knew that many of the upcoming Ulduar fights would have a lot of AE opportunities too.We feel these days like "I bring the best AE!" is not a strong niche. Likewise, it felt archaic to say that some characters just had to sit around while everyone else AE'd those big packs down. (Source)

Warrior (3.1 Skills List / 3.1 Talent + Glyph Calc.)
Heroic Strike in WotLK
In BC, Heroic Strike was a decision. You used it when you needed to vent off excess rage. The problem in LK is that the excess rage situation is almost 100% of the time, so Heroic Strike isn't a decision anymore. We need to fix it. (Source)

Last night I finished the up netherstorm. Completed all regular quest and soloed all non instance group/elite ones...except the nexus king. So I decided to give him another go. This time I equipped all my +sp gear and tried to fight in a holy/prot sort of way instead of just nuking. By the time I got him down to 50% I had used my bubble and hands as it was a bit of adjustment to playstyle, but I had things going fairly good. But at 50 the bastard pops into multiple forms and I was in no way ready for that and went down.

Since the fight had already gone on for about 5 minutes and you can order and have a pizza delivered in the time it takes to walk back to your corpse I just abandoned the quest. As for the over all amount of elites still in outland compared to vanilla, I often checked the zone population and the most was from 3-5 including me, and often it was just me or myself and one other. Rarely were any of the others over 68.

I did pass 30k, and feel even poorer as I did the number and to equip all my players up through epic flight will be just under 60K still. So I really hope there is some type of reduced epic flight cost for alts coming like they hinted.

This. It's why I'm trying to get my guild into a 10 man hardmode group, because we don't have enough pro players for doing it on 25.

The only "good" thing about that is they also mentioned elsewhere that they expected 3.2 to be up on the ptr for a fairly long time before going live.

Hmm all I can say is Mimiron is a rather annoying fight.... I think we're just fucking up the strategy a bit.

1) We're standing way too close to mimiron... this causes us to be very close to the boom bots when he drops them and even though we keep a frost trap down (tried it with my EB totem, but that meant no str/agil buff), they would still get to people.
2) #1 created another issue in people standing too close together. The one healer kept standing right by a tank (assuming for getting junk bots off) and every time a bomb bot would hit the tank, it would kill the healer.

Well, actually I think that's it... how do you usually handle the positioning during phase 3? We have the usual warlock tank, but sometimes he'll get gibbed by a bomb while tanking mimiron. We told the ranged to switch off to the bomb when it drops to destroy it before it hits someone, but it still hits some people =\.

I've been doing quite a few PUGs lately... mostly on my Paladin as a Tank (sometimes DPS), my Shaman as a healer (sometimes DPS) or my Druid as healer. I've mostly been working on badges to up my tanking sets though (not sure why I do it on my Shaman... I like Shaman healing better than druid healing though) . But the PUGs haven't been too bad... the biggest issue I run into is absolutely abysmal DPS. People literally turn 80 and want to go into heroics when they're certainly not ready for them.

I got brought into a H-UK yesterday as a Tank and they told me how their last tank had level 78 or lower blues and they couldn't keep him up... obviously this guy wasn't ready for tanking. I haven't really had a healer issue yet... I mean I've had to pop cooldowns and junk before, but stuff happens and I like getting practice with that .

Eh, just pay it and eventually you'll get over the huge cost . Right now I have 8 out of 10 of my level 70+ characters with epic flying and I have around 22k gold across my accounts. I think one thing that helps is when I do SoH leveling on my characters as that's a healthy boost every day for that character. Right now, I'm working on that with my warlock.

For real! My mage is doing crappy dps compared to every other dps class out there, not by narrow margin but by like 1-1.5k!! Top dps in my 25-man Ulduar raid does about 5.5k+ dps, my mage in T7.5 4pc bonus does about 4k! i tried switching pieces with Ulduar 25 man drops but that only brought my dps down. We still havent gotten to the tier boss in Ulduar yet. I hate playing my mage these days, we're just there as a vending machine for now. QQ

The latest patch notes can always be found at http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/patchnotes/
The latest test realm patch notes can always be found at http://www.worldofwarcraft.com...-realm-patchnotes.html

Death Knight (3.1 Skills List / 3.1 Talent + Glyph Calc.)

Frost Presence: Armor bonus is now 60% down from 80%.

Druid (3.1 Skills List / 3.1 Talent + Glyph Calc.)

Improved Barkskin: This talent now also grants 80/160% additional armor while in Travel Form or not shapeshifted.
Improved Tree of Life: The armor bonus to Tree of Life Form from this talent has been reduced to 67/133/200% bonus armor.

Hunter (3.1 Skills List / 3.1 Talent + Glyph Calc.)

Hunter's Mark: The ranged attack power bonus from this ability has been increased from 300 to 500.
Master Marksman: This talent now also decreases the cost of Aimed Shot and Chimera Shot by 5/10/15/20/25%.

Paladin (3.1 Skills List / 3.1 Talent + Glyph Calc.)

Eye For An Eye: This talent now deals 5/10% of the critical strike damage taken by the paladin back at the attacker.
Hand of Freedom: The base duration of this buff has been reduced from 10 seconds to 6 seconds.

Rogue (3.1 Skills List / 3.1 Talent + Glyph Calc.)

Overkill: Talent redesigned. Now increases energy regeneration by 30% while stealthed, and for 20 seconds after breaking stealth.

Warlock (3.1 Skills List / 3.1 Talent + Glyph Calc.)

Chaos Bolt: This spell no longer ignores damage reduction effects of the target.

Warrior (3.1 Skills List / 3.1 Talent + Glyph Calc.)

Blood Frenzy: This talent now provides 5/10% haste instead of 3/6%.
Bloodthirst: Cooldown reduced from 5 seconds to 4 seconds, and rage cost reduced from 30 rage to 20 rage.
Juggernaut: This talent now also increases the cooldown on Charge by 5 seconds.

Items

Death Knight PvP Gauntlets: The chance to refresh a Frost Rune when casting Chains of Ice has been removed. When equipped, these gloves now generate 5 additional runic power whenever Chains of Ice is used.

Raids & Dungeons
Ulduar - Mimiron

The flight time of Rocket Strikes has been increased, and Rocket Strikes will try to prefer players at range.
The Leviathan Mk II component of the V-07-TR-0N will become stunned during Phase 4 when the VX-001 component begins to cast the P3Wx2 Laser Barrage ability.
Proximity mines now deal less damage and have a lower duration. A small arming time has also been added so proximity mines will not immediately detonate on creation.

Bug Fixes

Druid Tier 8 Balance Set: The 4-piece bonus no longer has its effect consumed by Starfire casts in progress when it triggers. The chance for the effect to be triggered has been reduced down to 8%, as it was originally inflated to compensate.
Ice Layered Barrier: Upgraded to item level 232. In addition, the stats in the tooltip have been correctly adjusted to 78 spell power, 48 haste rating, 16 mana per 5 seconds, 52 Intellect, and 50 Stamina.
Pulsing Spellshield: The stats listed in the tooltip for this item were incorrect and have been adjusted. This item provides 69 spell power, 34 haste rating, 42 critical strike rating, 45 intellect, and 45 stamina.

Quote from Blizzard staffIronbound/Rusted Proto-Drake Achievement Rewards removed in the future
Sorry if there was any confusion on these mounts being removed in the future. I am working on getting an official response put together that covers the situation. There are some factors to consider, but we do plan to remove them. I have not heard of any plans to put in a replacement reward. (Source)

All instances are full!
The limit on the number of instances has been around for awhile now. We feel this was needed to preserve the game play for those already in the instances as it would eventually deteriorate when too many instances were up.

That said, we do not feel feel this is a permanent fix and have been working on a more long term solution for quite awhile now.

[...] There are no specifics I can provide at this time, but I can assure you we knew about this issue quite awhile ago when we had to start limiting the number of instances. This was never meant to be something we would put in and just ignore until players complained about it enough. I can assure you we are actively in the process of a more long term solution but these take a lot of time to plan out and implement so it won't be done overnight. (Source)

Is there any plan to remove some of the Argent Tournament rewards in 3.2?
There are no plans to remove any of the rewards at this time. A couple of goblin quests though may be disappearing because, well, they will be done. (Source)

Pure vs Hybrid classes
At a grossly simplistic level, the two buckets we use are classes with single role ("pures") versus multiple roles ("hybrids"). We don't make much of a distinction beyond that of how many healing specs a class can have or how many healing roles they can fill on a fight. The question is "Can you reroll to fill a different role?" For all healers, the answer is yes.

You might see slightly more priests just because they can fulfill two different healing roles, but to be honest we are seeing a pretty big diversity in who is brought into Ulduar to heal (even for hardmodes) that has a lot to do with guild style, tradition, player skill and synergy. (Source)

Warrior (3.1 Skills List / 3.1 Talent + Glyph Calc.)
Hotfixing Heroic Strike
We haven't changed Heroic Strike yet because just inflating its rage cost (or nerfing rage generation in general) would hurt warrior threat generation. This isn't in the zone of simple hotfix material. (Source)

Generating rage from damage only
Having warriors only or mostly generate rage from damage done is an intriguing idea that has come up a few times. It would help the problem where better gear leads to rage starvation (at least in lower instances) and where warriors have trouble OT'ing because they aren't getting hit. It might also get warriors to care slightly more about dps stats instead of focusing mostly on survival stats. This would all apply to druids too. This isn't a change we have in the pipe, but it is something we discuss from time to time. (Source)

I took a break and came back with a vengeance over the past week or so by leveling my DK. I went the Unholy route and have him up to 70 now. This class is just sick. I don't know if I will ever be able to level another class again.

WTF ill post this here, We are recruiting again, fing summer and peoples flakey schedules. Recruitment spam below. Should be up to 6 hard modes this week we also compleated 10 man Glory 10th in the US.

Hi everyone. Spike Flail on Ner'zhul (PVP) is looking for a few more dedicated raiders for our continued push into Ulduar and its hard modes. Currently we've cleared all the current 25 man content (minus Algalon), we also completed GOTR and H:GOTR pre 3.1.

http://www.wowprogress.com/gui...s/ner-zhul/Spike+Flail

http://www.guildox.com/go/g.as...lail&r=Ner%27zhul%2DUS

We have players from all time zones but raid primarily EST/CST time, with raids of Sun-Wends from 6:30 PM EST - 11 PM EST.

About Spike Flail:

The core of our guild came from the MMO Final Fantasy XI, where we were members of the guild Kupo, which was the top guild on our realm Pandemonium. A few of us had WoW experience in Vanilla, and when TBC came out we returned to the game, this time with many of our guildmates who were growing tired of FFXI's repetition. We started the guild from Kara up and slowly grew into a top guild on the server, finishing TBC as the 2nd progressed guild Horde side. Bringing with us our atmosphere from FFXI, coupled with the attitudes of the players who joined us over the years of TBC raiding, we've created a warm, fun and professional environment in which to pursue our endgame goals.

We currently raid from Sunday-Wednesday, from 7 PM EST - 11 PM EST, with raid invites starting at 6:30 PM EST. Our schedule tries to leave weekends open for our members to enjoy their social lives. We generally take 2 nights for Farm content, and 2 nights for Progression; so if you can't make the majority of these raids for whatever reason, its probably not the best idea to apply to us.

We take raiding serious, but we also know this is a game and meant to be enjoyed. While I know that sounds clich? and overused, I'm honestly proud to say that we're not the type of guild that takes raiding so seriously that we have run completely in the authoritarian manner and forget why we're playing. Our main goal is to maintain a professional environment in which we can play this game and progress, and we try to take that mentality into how we conduct ourselves when it comes to raiding and our reputation on our server. We've worked hard to create a professional and respectful atmosphere; and if you ask around on our server, I guarantee you'd be hard pressed to find a large number of people who've ever heard bad things about Spike Flail.

We currently run a silent bid DKP system, which myself or another Officer can give details on if necessary on request.

What we're looking for:

Our general requirements are as follows:
Close to if not full BIS 3.0 25 man raid gear.
Ability to make at least 90% of our raids.
PVE spec'd and geared.
Dedicated raiding mindset. We require consumable usage on any Progression or Non-Farming Boss attempt. You must have the playtime and means to be able to keep up with the consumable curve needed for weekly raiding. You must come over prepared to every raid

MOST IMPORTANTLY: We're looking for intelligent human beings, and you should be able to convey your intelligence in how you present yourself. This includes knowing game mechanics, having quick reaction time, and being able to learn from your mistakes. You should be able to explain your classes weakness and strengths, know the theorycraft to min/max your class, and what abilities to use when. You must be able to learn quickly from your mistakes and adapt to new situations, as well as have a strong sense of situational awareness and the ability to multi-task effectively. You also must be able to express yourself in a way that shows you're an intelligent human being; this includes proper grammar and sentence structure. If you can't express yourself in a form that shows you have an education higher than a grade schooler, you probably aren't the type of person we're looking for. No "b4, u, r, sum1," every time you speak please.

You can find a much longer post regarding all our expectations and requirements for our applicants at Spike Flail :: View topic - Overview, Expectations, and Requirements. *APPS READ ME*. I STRONGLY encourage any potential applicant to read over that thread thoroughly before making a decision regarding their application.

We are currently accepting applications from dedicated and skilled raids of ANY CLASS. However, because our recruitment is very general atm, we are being extremely strict with our criterion. Prospective Trials must be completely knowledgeable of their class's theorycraft and mechanics, dedicated and dependable raiders, and overall knowledgeable and skilled players. That all being said, we do have some classes that we need more than others, as follows:

HIGH PRIORITY:
Elemental Shaman
Resto Shaman
Feral Druid
Rogue
Moonkin Druid
Warlock
Holy Paly
Hunter
Mage

MID PRIORITY:
Death Knight

LOW PRIORITY :
Ret Paladin
Enh Shaman
Prot warrior
Shadow Priest
Holy/Disc Priest
Prot Paladin
Fury/Arms Warrior

How to contact us:

If you're interested in applying, you can visit our forums at Welcome to Spike Flail! and put an application in on the appropriate forum. Please be sure to read all the stickies before applying, if you can't be bothered to read the stickies and follow application directions you probably will not be considered for a trial. You also can roll a level 1 on Ner'zhul and chat with myself or any other Spike Flail officer.

Please be sure to read over all the information we've presented on our forum before making a decision to apply. If you think you meet our requirements and agree with our philosophy towards raiding, feel free to pursue it. However please don't belittle yourself by simply glancing over our information and tossing an application with no effort behind it. The application process is partly an attempt to weed out those who can't read stickies or form a proper sentence, so please remember that an application is your first impression, so try to make it as well crafted as possible.

If you wish to apply to us privately, please PM your application in the correct format to any Officer on the forum (Ushas, Melbufrahma, Zepp and Facts,).

I am playing a PROT Pally and recently went Dual Spec for RET. This will help our guild if I was playing off tank and the boss only requires a MT.

I have a few epic pieces already which are plate items geared for RET. Some questions to help me complete my research quicker. I can download the end game gear, but I am looking to just get good enough to DPS in 10 man Naxx or Uldar.

1) What are the easy to get started RET items for 2 fingers and 2 trinkets?
2) What should my Hit Rating be at level 80
3) What is a decent Power and Crit Chance %?
4) I am BS and have made the titian steel destroyer and 3 pieces of Savage saronite items as well as the spike titian steelhelm.

Any advice will be great, I would rather not spent a ton of money on epic rings etc..

I am sure I will win additional off spec (Ret DPS) items in Naxx but wanted an idea on how to start so I can be better.

What spec are you?

I have tried the following

arcane - good dps, low on damage on ooms very fast (rotation = 3x arcane blast, 1 x arcane barrage or 1 x arcane missiles if they proc)

Fire with TTW - ok dps, good damage but still places me in between 5-10 spot in the damage meter ( Fire bolt, living bomb, fire bolt spam/ pyro when it procs)

FFB with frost tree - good aoe dmg, ok dps, and slightly lower in damage than fire with TTW ( FFB, living bomb, fire bolt spam/ pyro when it procs)

I use molten armor almost all the time.

I have no idea why i cant even break the 5k dps mark, not only me, the other two mages in my guild as well. I have been reading ej's and they mention consistently in all the mage threads that the mages doing 7k dps.

My gear is not T8 but i do have T7.5 4pc bonus, weapon is not the best out of Naxx 25 ( kel is yet to drop it for me), not one trinket dropped for in raiding naxx for the past 3 months! Except those two pieces, i am sure i have the gear to do atleast 4.5k dps consistently.

I cant link armory right now, since i am at work but here is the info if you want to look it up

I'd link you my Paladin as I'm mostly in non-raid BiS, but I logged off as prot so that wouldn't work .

Helm: Spiked Titansteel Helm (Crafted - BS)
Neck: Pendant of Outcast Heroes (25 EoH) (or Gold Amulet of Kings (H-UP))
Shoulders: Spaulders of the Giant Lords (Reputation - Sons of Hodir Revered)
Chestpiece: Breastplate of Undeath (H-DTK)
Wrist: Vengeance Bindings (Crafted - BS)
Gauntlets: Gauntlets of the Culling (Quest - A Royal Escort (CoS))
Belt: Flame-Bathed Steel Girdle (H-Nexus)
Pants: Staggering Legplates (H-UK)
Feet: Death-Inured Sabatons (Reputation - Knights of the Ebon Blade Exalted)
Ring 1: Band of Frosted Thorns (H-Nexus)
Ring 2: ???
Trinket 1: Mirror of Truth (40 EoH)
Trinket 2: ???

For the Ring and Trinket, I use the Signet of Bridenbad (quest reward) and Meteorite Whetstone (H-UP), but they may not be the best to use.

As for your hit, you need 8% (261 rating... or is it 268? I can never remember which).

That also shows you why I vastly prefer playing plate DPS classes as they're freaking easy as hell to gear up. As a note, on my Paladin, I use the Deadly PVP gloves as they have some decent stats and they boost the damage of Crusader Strike by 5%.

arcane - good dps, low on damage on ooms very fast (rotation = 3x arcane blast, 1 x arcane barrage or 1 x arcane missiles if they proc)

Arcane would probably be hard for you because your gear is most likely geared toward fire, which don't care as much about mana regen as the mana hungry arcane does.

FFB with frost tree - good aoe dmg, ok dps, and slightly lower in damage than fire with TTW ( FFB, living bomb, fire bolt spam/ pyro when it procs)

You should be casting Living Bomb first and then your scorches (if necessary!) and then FFB until your insta-pyro procs. You listed Fire bolt, which I think you mean Fireball, which might explain why your DPS isn't as high as you should be sticking with Frostfire Bolt the entire time. For Fire/TTW you should only use Fireball as the spec is designed to boost the damage of Fireball but not FFB.

I use molten armor almost all the time.

If you have the gear for arcane, you should be using mage armor.

I have no idea why i cant even break the 5k dps mark, not only me, the other two mages in my guild as well. I have been reading ej's and they mention consistently in all the mage threads that the mages doing 7k dps.

Do also remember that this could be certain fights and they could also be spending less time fighting. The longer amount of time you spend under Bloodlust/Heroism, the better it is for your DPS as you have a longer percentage of hasted casting over the course of the entire fight.

Also, with your gear I would change your bracer enchant to spellpower.

Yup that was a copy/paste error of mine. I use fire ball in Fire/TTW spec & the fire ball glyph to go with it. In FFB spec i use FFB & the FFB glyph to go with it.

About the bracer i have another comparable bracer with spell power enchanted on it, this is part of my experimenting. I have two full sets just for PVE alone and one for PVP.

So theres not much i can do about my average dps.... well atleast i will stop looking to improve, may be the class mechanics are bad themselves. Thanks for the suggestions.
