So you actually believe this was just a clerical error on the part of the ATF. After the WH press secretary Josh Earnest defends the proposal to ban this round which just happens to be the most common ammo for the most common rifle in the US. Also after numerous law enforcement agencies state that the round is not a threat....really?

Wow....once again, you'll let your hate drive your logic. You call other people shill? Wow.
Proggies reserve the absolute right to replace reality with an alternate reality at any point if that reality becomes politically disadvantageous. Thus defending an action (in concert with the media) seamlessly becomes "oh, that was just an accident".

No. Just ban the magazines. Once they're empty then the guns are just clubs.
lol +1 for amusing historical footnote.

The uproar wasn't necessarily about banning this specific ammo. It was the ATFs reasoning. That this ammo can penetrate soft body armor from a handgun. Banning green tip ammo because of that reason opens up the door to ban all .223 and 5.56. Because they can all penetrate soft body armor.
It would certainly ban every modern medium power centerfire rifle cartridge, as either the Thompson Contender or Encore is chambered for most of them up to and including .30-06 Springfield. And who among us can deny the incredible penetration of the Thompson Encore into the gangbanger culture? Who among us can honestly say we don't have a Facebook photo of us clutching a wad of twenties while holding a Thompson Encore sideways, straining to balance that heavy 2X-8X Leopold?

Because it was a really shitty gun and anyone that knew anything about guns would never want one.
Plus it's really heavy, which is a serious problem if you ever want to club baby seals with it.

What do mean "the BATFE didn't agree?" BATFE is the very group that proposed banning the ammunition, and has explicitly stated that it intends to "withdraw the exemptions for 5.56 mm 'green tip' ammunition, including both the SS109 and M855 cartridge." The decision hasn't been finalized and is currently in a public comment period, but BAFTE absolutely wants to ban the ammunition.

After that document was released, the White House derailed the argument with its silly "save cops' lives" rhetoric. I don't really agree with the ATF's new "sporting purpose" framework (it allows ammunition used almost exclusively for recreational shooting to be classified as "non-sporting"), but I can at least follow the reasoning behind it. The White House's comments are just embarrassingly ignorant and intellectually lazy.
Well said.

You didn't even read Venix's link, obviously, or you wouldn't be going on about single shot pistols. Might want to do that.

Gang banger culture? The Tec 9 is highly coveted, as are similar weapons like this in 5.56-

Jhhnn sure seems interested in a topic that clearly isn't relevant to him and for which he's already been proven to have formed this very strong opinion before knowing some of the essential facts,e.g. the no credible source talking about ban despite atf and Obama both discussing it.

The price at WM is too high. What brand was it?

Right now, even with the jacking up price, I still able to get Lake City ammo (XM855 5.56X45 62GR) in 1000 bulk case for about $600 ship to my house. Link = http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/catalog/product/view/id/428/category/53/

Federal 55gr in 90 rds box is about $0.4/round ship.

I think I purchased the .223/5.56 for about $0.35 or less per round last year or so.
Not sure the brand. Just in a green box .35 doesn't sound terrible but still could get pricey pretty fast.

lol So you choose to play both sides of stupid, "it never happened" and "it solves a serious problem". Gotcha.

No. I admitted my error after reading Venix's link to the BATFE. Prior to that, I was misinformed, as were other posters as well. I already encouraged you to read it. Pages 13 & 14 are highly relevant.

I never claimed it solved a serious problem at all. It's consistent with the position that the BATFE has held all along, that's all.

Should the BATFE prevail, a wide assortment of 5.56 ammo will still be available, making this the usual exercise in paranoia from the so called "Patriot" fringe.

Which matters not at all. It's like saying that people who don't own diesels have no interest in diesel emissions regulation or that people who don't own polluting industries have no legitimate interest in regulating them.

The problem here is lack of responsibility from gun owners.

If gun owners stopped blowing their money on tattoos and lift kits for their over priced bro-dozers maybe they could afford their ammunition.

Instead all we get is whining about persecution by the government when they make a small paper work mistake.
It's not the nineties anymore folks. The assualt-weapons ban is no more. So take some responsibility for yourselves and stop commiting drug and other related crimes with your guns and you might just be able to get that stamp from the ATF for your own machine gun.

Yeah.cuz the ammo ban affects you how?
There is nothing wrong with popping off a few rounds..unless you're unAmerican.
As for Dcal430..yeah..criminals have such access to a gun like that.
They don't

Asked & answered. Wrapping guns in the flag is a little desperate, don't you think?

Of course criminals have access to any weapons they want, provided they can pay. Fast & furious showed us that.

Why shouldn't regular citizens of the US have access to the same arms and munition again?
