It looked like a FWD car because he could never really get on the throttle until the front wheels were straight

2007 civic si sedan. and i just realized that that I chose the wrong video to upload from my phone - that is actually my 4th fastest run @ 45.9. i'll upload the proper 44.6 one at some point. even though it was only 1.3 secs faster than the one above, it looks noticeably smoother.

FTD was 34.472 in a kart, 35.411 from an EVO 9. there were about 5 vettes in SS class duking it out all day around 37-38 seconds. also a mean sounding CRX that snuck in with a 37.573

yeah, what car?

and what was FTD, just out of curiosity?

looked like a smooth run!

my 06 STI I just put a cobb tbe on the other day, on a WOT it recorded 105db -_-

They didn't even let me run, since I was over 100db. But they refunded my entry fee since I was the 2nd person to run.

We have a guy from the steel cities region come down and run with us in southern Wv every now and again. He drives a black NB miata in STR here but he also has a vette. Don't really like it when he shows up since I also run in STR and he makes me look like a complete noob .

That overlay is neat.

Here's mine from 2 days ago... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYHk7iZoGF0

Can't wait to go again!

*edit.. details*
- Camera is GoPro2, suction-cup mounted to the sun-roof. 720p 60fps, "wide" view... I tried re-uploading the original (60fps) - here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_y5UFrsSFQ. Anyone know how to tell if my youtube vid actually preserved 60fps? Will experiment next time with other mounting points, like front bumper cam, etc.
- Car is RSX-S, 7psi Supercharged/Cold air intake/Race header/Street-tuned myself. 225-wide Falken Azenis RT-615's on 17x8" Ultraleggeras. Acura OEM A-spec suspension with 22mm rear sway bar (up from 19mm stock).

oh man, there was a v8(LS3) miata running with us as well. sounded incredible, but clearly had trouble putting the power down even with hoosiers. i imagine wheel width was limited.

it was being co-driven by a 22yo girl

I think this guys runs a 5.0 mustang...I've heard they have problems laying down power unless you really beef up the drive train

I have many HPDE videos here: http://www.youtube.com/jjr329

I just uploaded some from my first 2 events this year.

I record all my sessions and upload some clips from each track. I've done Road America, Blackhawk Farms Raceway, Grattan, Autobahn Country Club (North, South, and Full), and Mid-Ohio. I usually run with the Audi club (ACNA and USAudi) and sometimes just do open track days with Team Stradale @ Autobahn CC.

I also sometimes pay to get professional photos taken. They can be found here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jjr329/sets/ I'm waiting on my latest set from Autobahn, it was a very wet weekend which makes for some slow driving but awesome looking photos. Lots of water spray and reflection.

Car is a modified 2008 VW GTI. Bilstein PSS10 coilovers, R32 rear brakes, DTC-60 track pads (front), RPF-1 lightweight wheels with Hankook RS-3 tires, BSH RSB, Evoms CAI w/ heatshield, Schroth 4 point harness, APR full turboback, APR stage 1 tune (2+ soon).

Most people write the GTI off as slow, until I pass them. I get much enjoyment from that.

Camera is a Contour HD with suction cup mount.

I have a friend who tracks his 2010 GTI. He has a KO4 turbo. He has been having trouble the last couple of track days keeps his temps down and his brakes keep overheating (he has a BBK)

From what I've seen, a bone-stock GTI might be considered "slow" due to its weight on the track/autoX, but rarely do I see a stock one.

Also, saw a stock R32 at last weekend's autoX. That thing was quick and I can't get over that exhaust note at WOT!

Bigger isn't always better. What pads is he using? The popular Hawk HPS/HP+ are only good to 800F. I can exceed that at Road America coming down off the long straights. That's why I use the DTC-60 now, it's good to 1600F. If I exceed that then I've got bigger problems.

He could also be riding the brakes too long. Length of time on the brakes will put more heat into them than shorter harder braking. My buddy used to MELT Hawk pads in his WRX.

he is using hawk dtc 60's on a racing brake bbk with rs3 tires.

I agree bigger isn't always better. He didn't have any of these problems until he got the K04. Now the speeds he's getting on straights is too much for the brakes and is overheating. I wonder if he asks his tuner to lowers his afr at WOT, that it might lower his tenp. But now it looks like he needs a bigger oil cooler, accusump, and brake ducts now. And I believe he needs to ditch the virtual diff and get a real mechanical one to save the brakes too

that alone sounds like it would cause the overheating. it doesn't get disabled along with traction/stability control?

ESP can't be fully turned off on 2009+ GTI. ASR/EBD/XDS and the plethora of other traction/stability control acronyms VW uses could apply braking in an attempt to straighten the car out which would in turn overheat the brakes on a track.
