So what's next, we going to have to start having churches take down their crosses cause someone might actually, you know, see one and it offend them?

One nation, under God, indivisible.
Get over it

This is what's dividing the nation. People who don't believe are no longer rolling over and taking it.

It's not the original text, and was added at a time where it united as a nation. If USA remains stuck in the past, then divided we'll fall.

Good luck. The house voted 396-9 in 2011 to reaffirm ‘In God We Trust’ as our national motto. The Senate did it in 2006.

According to a 2003 joint poll by USA Today, CNN, and Gallup, 90% of Americans support the inscription "In God We Trust" on U.S. coins. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/In_God_we_trust

Sorry but this goes beyond the religious right. And this suit is just plain stupid. It is just some kid being ‘subjected to hearing the words “under God”’ Nobody is forcing anyone to say anything. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_Virginia_State_Board_of_Education_v._Barnette Close your fucking ears if you don't like it.

Your last link actually supports the cause.

Just because congress votes for something doesn't make it ok under constitutional rules or are you now singing a different tune than you did when the ACA was challenged?

And who has asked for that to happen?

Well, that would be the logical next step. It offend people to hear the word god so much that they are going to sue, so naturally it will soon offend people to just to see a religious symbol. Remember, this is a suit over someone just hearing the word God.

I agree, personally. However, why are they trying to force their views onto others?

Why not fight to exclude, for instance, the children of atheist parents from saying the "under God" part?

A much simpler case, IMO, where both parties can win.

That would make them Pariahs

When I was a kid, I never said the under God part, and it was not from any urging from my parents.

I've thought it was bull for as long as I remember, but I'm not going to be jumping on a lawsuit however.

Are you stupid or just being willfully ignorant. Congress voted to make it our motto, not to force anyone to say it. That's protected under free speech which I also linked. One of the down sides to free speech is that you might actually hear something that offends you. Sorry Jack, that's America.

OMG, they have us in chains. Oh the humanity!!!!
LOL.

Paranoid Athiests are easily one of the more annoying and ridiculous types of religious nuts.

It's always been most funny to me that this is one of those "issues" that makes kids realize many so-called "adults" have serious issues. No one really gave that much of a shit about the pledge when I was in school, it was just another school thing. Then you'd see these crazy "adults" with nothing better to do than get all bent out of shape over it. Fuck, it would be more productive to get all up in arms over the terrible school lunches if anyone wanted to raise a big stink over something... now those were oppressive. But all upset over a pledge? And really over a word? Yeah, teaches kids that some people are just retards and enjoy showing it off.

One nation, under God, indivisible.
Get over it

"Under God" divides the nation into believers and non-believers.
So "One nation, under God, indivisible" is not logically consistent. Get over it.
One nation, indivisible.

So, tyranny is someone objecting to the state forcing them to hear about a god that they do not believe in and that the majority is forcing them to listen to on a daily basis.

Yep, makes sense to me...

They can object, but they're doing more than that. Listening to someone say "under God" is in no way requiring them to adhere to [insert religion here], which would be a violation.

If it is, please explain why.

Like I said, require your kids to be exempt. You have no right to not be offended.

Take your pick. It doesn't say Catholic God now does it?

So, it's 'one nation under any god you wish to worship but tuff shit for any non-believers'? Well, why didn't they just say so in the first place? They seem to have left a few words out.

Shiva bless America!

You apparently don't understand your own constitution. How sad.
