It is a crappy analogy because the collection or non-collection of stamps does not include any type of belief. It is not like people differ over the existence of stamps.

MotionMan
Belief doesn't just have to be in the existence of something. It could be on the relative importance of some stamp, or in the history of a stamp, etc. I'm not a stamp collector, but it's hard for me to see how there couldn't be a controversy with regards to collecting stamps. Especially considering how people are involved.

But he was never introduced to the concept and had never explicitly denied a deity. You've made the distinction between atheist and agnosticism earlier in this thread; please elaborate on it because it is clearly not how I would distinguish between them.

Like banging your head against a wall, eh? It's the brainwashing talking, you can't fight it.

Despite the mass information, agnosticism is the belief that one cannot have knowledge of the existence of god. This belief DOES NOT PRECLUDE ONE FROM BELIEVING IN THE EXISTENCE OF GOD. IT DOES NOT MEAN YOU BELIEVE THERE "may" BE A GOD. It only remarks on the KNOWLEDGE of god.

Because atheists have no moral code?

Most of sexual perversions are done by those who have a lot of free time - religious freaks and politicians.

What do they do all day?

Working people don't have a much time for sexual perversions - doesn't matter how religious are you.

Religion doesn't make you more or less moral.

Do children start believing in their religion before they are taught the details of the religion and/or start following the rituals of their religion, or vice versa?

MotionMan

If they are a young child, they will believe about anything you tell them.

I wish to clarify that I am not simply an atheist:

john 8:12
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

Jesus wore a crown of thorns

Jesus wore a halo

Jesus walked on water

Jesus is the most high god

Jesus is an anthropomorphism of the sun, which is why his artist depictions always look similar to this (face in front of the sun):

The signs of the Zodiac are represented multiple times in the bible. The following are just a few examples:

Ezekiel 1:10
Their faces looked like this: Each of the four had the face of a man, and on the right side each had the face of a lion, and on the left the face of an ox; each also had the face of an eagle.

Revelation 4:7
The first living creature was like a lion, the second was like an ox, the third had a face like a man, the fourth was like a flying eagle.

Face of a man = Aquarius "The Water Bearer"
Face of a lion = Leo "The Lion"
Face of an ox = Taurus "The Bull"
Face of an eagle = Scorpio "The Scorpion\Eagle"

John 21:13
Jesus came, took the bread and gave it to them, and did the same with the fish.

Bread = Virgo "House of Bread" aka Bethlehem (literally translates to House of Bread)
Fish = Pisces "The Fishes"

The Age of Pisces began in 1AD. This is the time of Jesus. The Age of Aquarius (Neil Mann interpretation: begins AD 2150) is upon us, thus Jesus' time is up.

Yep, i have had this discussion with someone when they were talking about their belief in ghosts.
I would be wary of this kind of logic, because it leads to presupposing that all things called supernatural by someone cannot be natural; therefore they are not studied, therefore they cannot be shown to be natural. Many natural phenomena were once thought to be supernatural in origin, and it is far better to keep an open, but skeptical, mind, than it is to dismiss all supernatural events out of hand.

So, what is an atheist? That's a concept. Does it have meaning? Really? Isn't that just a game you play in your head? Likewise a Jew or a Catholic, etc. Games people play.

Doesn't matter if you believe in God or not . Is what matters is who you are whats inside you . Who the hell are you . Thats what mattters. The people on the God side who don't practice what they preach, The people who don't believe blame the religious morons on everthing .When there equally as bad . Both are in dog race to edge of cliff. One pushing the other to see who will chiken out and start thinking. Its my hope and belief that both dogs have great belief in their arcane thoughts. Both go off the cliff.

That is basically an empiricist. You are not convinced by the argument of one or another group without empiric data. Nothing wrong with that position. If you chose to profess your position you may want to look beyond the empiric argument toward the logical inconsistencies, because there is no further argument beyond repeating the lack of data. And I suggest that meaningfull dialog cannot be forwarded by repetition or ridicule.

Many atheists simply say "I don't know", but haven't been convinced of anything yet. Are you going to tell me that's a metaphysical belief structure, and therefore a kind of religion?

And so help me god, if you say "that's agnosticism", I'll hit you. I'm not going to have that argument again.

.
Metaphysics:

The branch of philosophy that examines the nature of reality, including the relationship between mind and matter, substance and attribute, fact and value

A priori speculation upon questions that are unanswerable to scientific observation, analysis, or experiment.

So yes: Atheism is a metaphysical belief structure.

The difference between a cult and a religion is that the latter is old. Like, stepping into a pile of dogshit makes you curse, but stepping into a pile of dinosaur shit makes you famous. Despite both being crap.
