ATHLON 1800XP Speed + Voltage Problem

Dear Friends

I have had an ECS K75SA mboard and an Athlon 1800 XP for a few weeks, when I realised that it was only running at 1150MHz. I went into the CMOS and changed the memory and CPU frequencies to 133MHZ. Also, I tried setting the CPU core voltage to something like 1.744 and 1.728, which were the only two options. The system now booted up saying Athlon 1800 XP at it should have done, but the system kept crashing. There was a checksum error, Kernel errors....The memory is 133MHz, but what could the problem be. Your comments and suggestions would really be appreciated.

300 Watt Power supply.
Geforce 440 MX

You might want to upgrade your bios.

I would have to say that your power supply is the most likely problem. If you had no crashes at 1.15 ghz it is because your processor is using less power to run than it needs at its rated clock speed. I would recommend going to the AMD web site and see if your power meets amd's power supply requirments or is on there recomended power supply list. All you have to do is change the front side bus from 100 mhz to 133 mhz. Don't mess with the memory settings, it will change automatically.
