Does anyone know if this motherboard (ASROCK AM1B ITX) can stop fan at low temp ?
If yes, what kind of setup can be done about that ? (choose what temp will start the fan, etc)
Can this motherboard do this also for fan case ?
I have both an AM1B and AM1H. The answers below apply to both.
(1) Can the motherboard stop the fan at a defined temp? Yes, it can. I have confirmed this by physically inspecting the fan to confirm the fan stopped when I set A-Tuning Fantastic (the fan controlling software) to keep the fan at 0rpm until 50 degrees (I picked that randomly since the CPU temp runs below 50). I had to confirm this through physical inspection b/c the software rpm reading posts the last confirmed rpm once the fan actually turns off (thus, it never reads "0").
I was also able to successfully revive the fan using the software (some MB's have an issue with reviving fans once the fan stops).
(2) How to control the fan speed? ASRock's A-Tuning (which includes the Fantastic fan tuning software) allows you to set fan rpm's based upon temps on a scaling chart. It's very easy to use and runs a test on each fan to inform you of the various rpm the fan operates at various power levels. If you want the fan off until the cpu hits a certain temp, then set the fan to start at the temp you want the fan to turn on (eg., 0% until 50degrees, 35% at 50degrees, etc).
(3) Does the software also control the case fan? Yes. The software controls the 3 fan headers on the motherboard and allows you to set various temp/rpm settings for each fan header independent of the other. The bios apparently allows you to set similar controls as the software but I have not used the bios settings for this function so I cannot attest to whether the bios settings allow the fan to turn off.
