actually, the cheapest socket 939 compatible heatsink/fan on newegg is only $6.99 (+ $4.99 shipping) and has decent reviews, most of which say it works fine for Athlon 3000+.

80mm fan ball bearing fan, 32cfm, 21dba. More info: http://www.tr2tt.com/products/coolers/m6.htm The ~0.35C/W rating is pretty mediocre, but should be fine for a low power Venice core CPU. The stock retail AMD heatsink has a 0.22C/W rating.

The only thing i don't like is that the copper base is screwed into the aluminum heatsink. I wonder about the quality of the TIM (if any) between the copper plate and heatsink. The heatsink is actually designed by ThermalTake and is available for around $13 shipped elsewhere.

only downside to this is that OEMs have 1 yr warrenty compared to retail's 3
