Hey,

The rebate offer for the AMD 3400+ 939 has been extended to the end of the year.

Direct Link
Onrebate.com

I have trouble finding the 3400+ in the 939 format from many places, however, and not sure if it comes in the full package with fan and heatsink...perhaps not so hot?

Still new here, if something's wrong, give me a shout!

That's strange. They don't list eligible merchants and also don't state it must be a retail package.
I would definitely call OnRebate dot com before making a purchase.

How did you find this ?

Edit: They do specify a UPC number so I suppose it must be a retail package.

I found it linked through this web site ~2 weeks ago. The link was to the tiger direct web page, where it was bundled with an Asus A8V mobo. Since the rebate does not state it has to be purchased in that package, I thought it might be better to just buy the processor elsewhere.

I thought the only 939s were 3000,3200, 3500,3800, and 4000. I dont think I have seen a 3400 939 yet.

Yeah, that's what I find odd too. But, the tiger direct web page had it listed there with a bundled mobo...the whole thing is perplexing. Personally, I would really like a 939 3400+, but the deal seems sketchy.

I went to Global and they have the proc listed as $259.99 with an asterisk. When you add it to your cart it jumps to $359.99. Not a bad deal considering New egg wants $269 and you have to buy a MB and but they also have a 3500+ retail for $267 and you don't need to buy a MB. So really not such a deal I guess.

Note that the 3400+ is the Newcastle core, which is a 130nm process, the old stuff.
The 3200+ and 3500+ are on the Winchester core, a 90nm process, the new stuff. Runs about the same temp, maybe slightly lower if I recall correctly, but overclocks well.

isn't that with the 754 socket? There's just too many different versions of everything today.

The 3400 or the 3200/3500? The 3200/3500 are 939 socket. And they do run lower in temps, from what I understand.

The OP states there is a 939 3400, newegg seems to sell a 939 3400, AMD has no info on such a processor. I'm confused. If there is a 939 3400, does it have the 90 or 130 core?

onrebate.com is owned by Tigerdirect, Global Computer Supplies, and Dartek (They are all the same)

rebate is probably on good at their stores.
