Try to get a 3000+, same performance, nearly half the price.

why do you need two CD-RW drives?

somebody will be along to help you with LCD selection shortly

OK, I'm starting to sound like a broken record on the A64 posts, but a couple of people have had problems with 3200. Don't go cheap and get some good PC3500 CAS2. You won;t regret it.

In addition, I will not be doing any overclocking. So, are you saying that people are having problems with the 3200 processor itself or memory capatiblity with the 3200. Thanks

newpers:

I would have to agree with the 3000+ comments. I actually now regret getting my 3200+ too soon.

I think the 380 watter that comes with the Sonata is fine (my P4 2.4C runs fine on a 200w PS, though that system does not have many other power-hungry components). You might want to sacrifice a space for some more speed by switching over to a 75 gig raptor.

As for the LCD, I guess look into the 16ms 17" panels.

i just setup a computer with that motherboard. i wouldn't recomend buying it. It takes like 2 minutes for it to auto detect the harddrive and cd-rom drive at the bios boot.

maybe there needs to be some settings changed but i doubt it.

just for reference...the 3200+ is no where near twice the cost of the 3000+ anymore. It makes it a much more difficult choice.

Since we're so close to seeing what socket 939 and the nForce3 250 brings, I'd wait. Actually, I am waiting. I've been thinking about switching to a P4 setup for a change of pace, or getting an Athlon-64 system... but since we're going to be seeing the Prescott in about a month, and the socket 939 Athlon-64's, it makes sense to wait and see what the difference is.

For an LCD, I'd look at what dell has to offer and hope there's some good sales going on.
Mostly because they will take a return no questions asked.

The 16ms 17" panels don't have very good color.

First of all, its Athlon . Sorry to pick that out but its always the insignifgant things that annoy us.

Id agree on the 3000+ over the 3200+ unless you seriously need the extra power.

For keyboard/mouse, Id suggest the Logitech Cordless MX. Beautiful keyboard and even though the mouse feels like a brick, it glides accross my desktop with more grace than Torville & Dean on Ice.

Keep the 380watt PSU that comes with the Sonata, it's more than enough to power that system.

So, the 1024 MB Cache size is not significant enough to spend the extra $60 for the Athlon 64 3200 over the 3000. In addition, do I really need the PC 3500 RAM over the PC 3200 RAM if I am not overclocking. Also, what is a good silent hard disk drive?

Thanks

3500 over 3200, if not overclocking, no.
Its a hard call to say about 3200 vs 3000. On one hand, the 1mbyte cache cannot show its true potential (unless in 64-bit environment). On the other hand, we dont know just how much performance is effected when cache is halfed to 512kbyte in a 64-bit environment. What we do know is, that the 3000+ series in 32-bit mode with 512kbyte cache has little to no real world performance degrations.
