Ordered from FuturePowerPC today.

It is known that it was unintentionally listed under the s754 processors.

They confirmed that this IS the Retail socket 939 3500+ winchester 90nm.

Placed my order last night and they are shipping starting wednesday... get em while they are in stock

FuturePowerPC 3500+ $289

Zalman CNPS7000B fan : $35.99 shipped (much better than stock; a must if you OC)

oh i dont plan on using stock, but the retail comes with 3yr warranty, yours with 1..
thats main reason i decided to stick with retail, and then attach 3rd party fan after

Monarch allows you to buy a 3 year warranty with them for an extra $15. But it's thru Monarch not AMD I believe.

all bare procs are through the company, all retail's are through amd.
their tack on warranty would definitely be through monarch

Well, is it even worth it buying the $15 3 year warranty from Monarch if you plan to overclock and also use third-party HSF's?

Let me know if you get it BigHurt. FuturePowerPC's reseller rating ok, but not great.

I'd stay away from Monarch. They have the slowest service/shipping since the 17th century. I ordered an athlon 64 combo over a week ago and they have yet to ship it. I ordered my parts from CrazyPC and Newegg on the same day I ordered from Monarch and I received already.

I bought ram from Monarch about 2 months ago. Ordered Friday Night (11/12/04), and since they are closed on the weekends, it was shipped first thing Monday morning (11/15/04) and got it by Thursday (11/18/04) since I live in Cali.

Have you called Monarch Customer Service to see why your order is being held up?

I ordered my CPU from Monarch on the 4th and got it yesterday, the 10th to Cali... not bad considering they took an extra day to verify my shipping address with my CC company.

FuturePowerPC on the otherhand, I'd caution. Just recently I ordered a BFG 6800OC for $279... not a bad deal. But the package had obviously been re-sealed. I mean the box was torn under the shrink wrap; could be refurb, could be B-Stock... who knows. Very deceitful if you ask me.

considering the 3200 90mm can be had for almost 100 dollars less this isnt a hot deal.

Comparing the price to 3500+, is it hot? The performance may be similar between the 3200 and 3500, but for those that actually choose to buy the 3500, this may be a hot deal compared to other vendor prices.

I called them and some lady put me on hold for 15 minutes and then hanged up on me. I called again and a guy answers and tells me that it is being shipped today via Parcel Post. Via parcel post, I believe is 4-7 days. In that case, I should be getting my order 2 1/2-3 weeks (cross my fingers) since I placed my order. One of the worst service since 14 years of building computers. I bought from Monarch because Zipzoomfly and Newegg were out of stock of the MSI Neo2. Never again.

Well, it figures that I have had to wait on ordering my CPU, and now instead of rock-bottom $251 for the 3500+, Monarch has raised the price to $285. Fabulous. Now I'll even consider FuturePowerPC since for $4 more I get a retail HSF, which who knows, could come in handy. Actually the stock ones are supposed to be pretty darn good quality right? I might OC a little, but nothing EXTREME. If I later decide to do that, I can always upgrade to a Thermalright or Zalman...

"...and how will anyone find out?"

AMD requires you send in the stock HSF along with the CPU for 3 year warranty service.

I had the 3 year waranty on XP1600 I bought from them. It died somehow during a trip to another mobo and yes, I was grounded. It was about 2 years ols and cost me $150 when I bought it, but the best they would replace it with was a xp1800 (because that was the slowest thing AMD was making at the time). I thought that was kind of a rip, but it beat a kick in the arse.

It was a rip because they replaced it with a faster chip?

you should do a search and read 3200 vs 3500 threads before posting.

3500 oc'd is definitely worth the extra money

you think I will buy the retail package and throw the original hsf away?
oh no.
it will stay in its nice packaging and ready to ship back to amd in the event my proc dies.
hell, i'll even seat it on the processor before i send it to have the implant in the oem thermal pad.

monarch just bumped the price up on their 90nm 3500+ to $285.00. I wonder if I place an order tomorrow and request, if they will honor the $251 price that it was just yesterday night.
