Looks like a great system. Room for more RAM when you get the cash, that's the only thing I see even slightly lacking

Nobody is buying an A64 right now because of it's 64-Bit ability, or shouldn't be at least, it's the fact that in 32-Bit apps it runs extremely well when compared to the competition.

BTW, Congrats on the new build, looks good, I would say an upgrade to 1GB might be the only thing I would change about it.

You need a 64-Bit OS and Apps to take any advantage of the 64-Bit features of the chip.

well, wut are u comparing? athlon xp3000+ with the a64 3000+? or sumthin else? well, the point isnt that everyone's goin 64 bit just because of its potential, its because it actually performs very well in all areas. the speed difference is actually huge and noticible if he is playing games. an athlon 64 2800+ is a bit faster then the athlon xp 3200+, so if anyone is willing to spend money to get a 3200+, then it'd be kinda dumb to not get the a64 2800+. if money is a factor, then it'd be smarter to go for an athlon xp, but if it isnt, go for the athlon 64.

I have almost the same comp + 512MB ram. It's great for any game out now, you won't be sorry.

Only thing you might want is another 512MB of RAM for 1GB, I've heard that newer games (Far Cry, UT2004) aren't entirely content with only 512.

Nice rig. Just like everyone said get 1 gig of ram if you can afford it now or later. Also the recommendation about getting a DVD burner is a great one if you burn a lot of material.

You might want to upgrade for a more powerful PSU, just to be on the safe side. For the same price of an Antec 350 watt, you can get a Fortran or Allied 400 watt PSU. Both Fortran and Allied are AMD approved.

I would rather have an Antec 350 watt then a Fortan or Allied any day

My Allied 400 watt PSU works great. I have it in my budget ECS box right now, and I'm thinking of swaping it it with my Antec 350 watt in my main box. My first Antec 350 watt blew out on me the first month. The Allied I've had since Dec. of 2003 and have had no problems what so ever. I still think that Antec is a great company, but so many people depend popular name brands when making a purchase. I just think Antec is way over priced. Antec can get those prices because of their Marketing strategies and brand loyal customer base.
