Athlon/Duron memory and PS questions

I'm sure this has been answered, but a search didn't come up with anything usefull so I'll ask here:

I'm going from a Celery 300a + Abit BH6 combo to a Duron 800 + Asus A7 combo. My questions:

1) Currently I have PC100 128 MB Ram in there - do I need to replace it with PC133?

and

2) I have a generic 250w Power Supply - do the Durons still have issues with non - AMD approved power supplies? Do I need to replace it too?


Any help would be much appreciates, even just a pointer to a thread or article that answers my Qs is great. Thanks, and sorry if this is the 1000000th time this Q has been posted!

Well, all i can tell you is that you don't have to buy new memory. I don't think there is actually any problem since the VIA KT133 chipset doesn't support 133 MHZ fsb speeds. About the power source, i don't know, although the amd page still has a list of recomended PS.

Depending on how 'clean' the power stream is coming from your PS, you probably don't need to buy a new one. The list on AMD's site is just for ones that they recommend since they have been tested with Athlons and Durons. Your memory should be fine as well. All you can do is try it. If it works, great. If not, there may still be some things you can do without having to buy replacements...
