sweet deal...picked my up tonight and they had tons of MB. about 2 crates. this is probably going to be a black friday sale. popped mine into my current system and it is multiplier unclocked and running at 1.826 ghz (166 * 11).

Great deal. I just picked up one. It's running at 140*12.5=1750 at 1.6v with my abit kr7a. Don't know if it's manf unlocked. I just used the wire trick to unlock it b4 I installed it.
It's time to get rid of my 1600+ from newegg.

Well, stability is good, but the overclocking bios is somehow unstable...and no voltage tweak, either. Any idea?

Kind of pitiful for my DDR400(used on a PIV before)...even with the quickest setup in memory...

I got my Athlon home and had a look at it in its packaging and thought I might have received a Palomino because is said 1999 on it, but it is an AIUGA, which I gather is a T-bred, and the core is noticeably smaller than the Palomino. AMD should really come up with a heat spreader for its core.

I also bought the Maxtor, 2 sticks of the cheapo 512 MB RAM & a free after rebate modem. Now all I need is a case and power supply, plus maybe one of the Black Friday $10 after MIR burners. Not a bad system for $275 or so, I warrant. I still haven't plugged anything in (there are other things I want to plug in first this holiday).

I hemmed and hawed about buying the hard drive when I was in the cashiers line, so the checker stamped my receipt with "Extended Return Privileges." Apparenly I now have until January 5th to return any of the items, including the RAM and CPU (which are normally 15 days).

I didn't get neither P4 or AMD combo, neither Maxtor, neither RAM.... my wife managed to get home yesterday at 9PM (instead at promised 1-2PM, knowing I really need go to Fry's since the morning) , right when Fry's closed.... happy Thanksgiving!

Maybe they will have at least the AMD $79 combos on Friday still?

I think Fry's started closing at 10PM for the holiday hours. Anyway, picked one up yesterday and it was sweet. Just wish I could oc this TBred. But budget has me using stock HS/Fan. Amazingly, it's the same size HS as the stock 900 I'm replacing it with. Pretty sad. Anyway, have to reinstall windows. The system is stuttering like a mofo whenever I print or use USB devices.

This CPU is so small. It runs much cooler than my old TBird.
Right now I am using stock fan, the CPU temperature is less than 40C while running Prime95.
BTW room temperature is around 15C. board temperature is around 22-25C.

I just overclock it to 140FSB because I only have PC2100 DDR RAM on my Epox 8KHA+ board.
Since the CPU is unlcoked, I could go higher FSB, but other components are not good.

Hmm, just brought in todays paper and checked Fry's Friday sale; no remarkable deals there really, at least not nearly as good as yesterday's super-deals....

I found a celeron and p4 1.7 combos; not worth the money in my opinion; there is only one bright spot: PartitionMagic 8.0 for $29 (before 20 bucks upgrade mir) , but this is not enough to make me go there during Friday's craziness ....

mmm...seem to me that I'm having trouble "installing" OR "running" either XP or Win2K correctly...especially right after installing the DirectCD software...

WinME is fine, though...strange...

Maybe it's the motherboard...? I have tried the slowest memory timing(and I'm using a DDR333 memory!) and still not working...
