<< These are the type of benches I really expected to see.... >>
Yeah exactley. I didn't even read Extreme Tech's because 1. The benchmarks but also because they (like many) still use AMD 760, when KT266A is noticeably faster (8KHA+'s numbers looked great!). Anyway, this does estabilsh AMD the clear leader right now, and despite the price increases, so what? For those looking for the fastest, pick up a 8KHA+ and a XP 1800+, but for those looking to save money, get the $60 cheaper 1700+. Really the best way to describe the 1700+ is that it is in the same situation that the 1.4 T-Bird was in. It lead in some stuff (1800+ aside), but the 2GHz took the lead in some. So the $190 1700+ will be the best value, but for those that have the cash, they'll get the 1800+ so AMD continues reign of the performance crown, the q is, will Northwood come in Nov. I hope so, it will skake things up again. Good work AMD, and thanks Anand for a great Article!
<< Hmm, the XP didn't beat the P4 in everything, that's a bit disappointing. >>
I disagree. The only thing that the 2GHz won in still was Q3A and we all know that's because of the hardware prefectch. Everything else, 1800+ won.
